We are a Community Development Corporation serving our local community by engaging in a broad range of strategies that promote community health and development. was afforded the privilege of serving as a Camp Counselor in a Summer Enhancement Program at his grandparents' Church in Virginia. During that time, he had very little idea that a seed was being planted in his life that would ultimately gr
ow into what would become the Be The Lite CDC, Inc. When asked why this CDC was created, the simple answer is that we have a desire to help people. Being a Pastor of a Church, outreach has always been the pulse of his existence. Over the past years we have been able to reach people in their times of distress by providing food, clothing, and even shelter. However, in 2021, at the height of the pandemic, he was pressed to develop something that would extend beyond the reach of the local Church and founded the Be The Lite CDC, Inc. It is the primary goal of this CDC to aid families within our local community, the city of Concord, NC, the Charlotte Metropolitan Area, and the State of North Carolina, at large. We desire to come alongside families to provide children with School supplies, assist single parent households and struggling families with baby items, to feed those in need for Thanksgiving, to provide food/items/gifts for Christmas to families encountering financial hardships, just to name a few of our Outreach initiatives. Over the years, we intend to develop a food bank/warehouse to feed our area with regularity. We anticipate hosting financial literacy seminars, entrepreneurial events/expos, developing housing communities, and offering opportunities for first-time homeowners. Additionally, we intend to improve the health of our community by hosting blood drives, medical screenings, and even on-site checkups. We anticipate hosting college and career fairs by partnering with other businesses and organizations to position the community for greater success. Any and every possibility to help those in our service area will be explored as the Organization continues to take shape. The tangible beauty of this is that the Board of Be The Lite CDC, Inc. has individuals in healthcare, education, housing, entrepreneurship, community outreach, and ministry. Every area the footprint intends to extend has appropriate representation already. Be The Lite CDC, Inc. is positioned for success. Beyond the above-mentioned drives, the flagship program of the CDC will be our very own Summer Enhancement Program which will be a six-week program that provides educational opportunities to school aged children during the months of July and August. The program will be for children ages 5-12, with teenagers (13-19) serving as mentors while having adults (20 and older) as Camp Counselors. This program will be used to groom leadership skills in the teenage mentors and offer additional help to the younger children in areas of math, science, social skills, etc. all in a safe environment. There is a broad stretch that this CDC intends to reach so we solicit support to ensure its success.
