Can you feel the momentum? Help me congratulate our May Wolverine Pride Award-Staff Members of the Month, sponsored by Christina Brown with the Jay White Group of Keller Williams! Congratulations Ms. Hayes and Mr. Tinsley. We would also like to thank Dr. Aime Steele who is our sponsor for the staff Attendance Raffle each month. Thank you, Ms. Brown and Dr. Steele, for supporting West Cabarrus!
Ms. Hayes.
Des Hayes does so much work for graduation that so many people never get to see. She spends the entire year making sure that the students have everything they need to walk across the stage and to make sure that our ceremony goes off without a hitch. Many people may think that she really only has to worry about this in the spring, but her prep starts at the very beginning of the year, and she does this all without any extra compensation. She already shows dedication in her classroom, but she also does so much more for the school as a whole. She is the very definition of a Wolverine.

Mr. Tinsley
Mr. Todd Tinsley exemplifies excellence in every aspect of his role and is truly deserving of the Wolverine Pride Staff Member of the Month Award. As our IB Coordinator, he shows a deep commitment to student success, ensuring all IB students are supported, challenged, and guided with care. Mr. Tinsley is incredibly supportive of his IB teacher team, offering guidance and resources to keep instruction strong and aligned. His many years of experience and understanding of IB Diploma requirements helps both students and staff navigate the program with confidence.
In addition to his leadership role, Mr. Tinsley teaches a range of courses including English, Theory of Knowledge, and Philosophy. Across all of these subjects, he brings a high level of expertise, thoughtfulness, and passion for learning, modeling the intellectual curiosity that the IB program values.
Mr. Tinsley’s impact extends well beyond the classroom. As the head men’s soccer coach and a volunteer with the women’s program, he invests countless hours developing not only skilled athletes but also respectful, disciplined, and resilient young people. His influence reaches both on the field and across Weddington Road, where he has built strong connections and a positive rapport with staff and students at our feeder schools, Weddington Hills and Winkler.
What sets Mr. Tinsley apart is his willingness to go above and beyond without seeking recognition. His leadership and dedication make him a true example of Wolverine Pride.
