The Old Manse Built in 1769, adjacent to Concord's Old North Bridge: Witness to Revolution, and home of Hawthorne, Emerson and American Transcendentalism.

A property of The Trustees of Reservations, this National Historic Landmark witnessed the "shot heard round the world," and, less than a century later, Emerson, Hawthorne, and Thoreau spawned a revolution in American philosophy from here.

Don't forget about our regularly scheduled Specialty Tours!

On specific Sundays throughout the month we have extended, hour-long tours that take a deep dive into specific histories of the Old Manse. This Sunday you can take our Attic Tour, which explore the rooms of our third floor attic and the people who occupied them, from enslaved people and indentured servants to visiting family and guests.

We're officially kicking off our fall season at the Old Manse!

🎃 Aside from our regularly scheduled specialty tours, we're excited to bring back Spirits of the Old Manse during special evening hours on October 23, 24, and 30!

🕯 And once daylight savings time hits and the sun sets even earlier, we'll be offering our special On the Gold Light tours, where you can experience the history of the house by lantern light!
