People like Ann.
After an illness caused permanent nerve damage in her legs, Ann became a full-time wheelchair user. Frequent trips to the hospital for cancer treatments presented a challenge most people never have to consider: getting back into her own home.
While her husband could help her down the porch steps, getting back up was impossible without assistance. After every treatment, they would return home and call 911, waiting in their car for firefighters to carry Ann and her wheelchair back into the house.
Through GSIL's Access Modification Program (AMP)a wheelchair ramp was installed, giving Ann safe, reliable access to her home. Now, after a long day of treatment, Ann can simply come home and roll through her own front door.
This is the impact of accessibility. This is the impact of independence.
