Fire blight is a very serious bacterial disease which can kill apple trees, pear trees, quince trees, crabapple trees, and other related plants.

If caught early and treated consistently, a tree might survive fire blight… “it depends” on early diagnosis and treatment.

This is what an early case of fire blight can look like on an apple tree.

— in Berkeley!

We invite you to experience art in nature! We're excited to partner with the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) in the creation and presentation of "Monument (Pyramid)" (2022/2026) by Maren Hassinger. This large-scale installation was built collaboratively using fallen branches from the Garden's Mather Redwood Grove. The ten-foot-tall sculpture is on view now at the Garden, located on the Oak Knoll. Learn more about the artist and watch the time-lapse video of the creation of the installation: https://ow.ly/tehv50Z6Uk4

The installation is part of the exhibition "Maren Hassinger: Living Moving Growing"—the artist's largest retrospective, on view at BAMPFA through November 29, 2026. Don't miss it!

Plus, this Sunday, June 7, is Community Free Day! Enjoy free admission to both the Garden and BAMPFA. A complimentary shuttle will run between the UC Botanical Garden, BAMPFA, and overflow parking at the Lawrence Hall of Science from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

We look forward to seeing you in the Garden!
