📚🏰 Stepping Into the Middle Ages!

Our 7th grade ELA students are diving into their new text, Castle Diary, as they explore life and learning in medieval times. While students get acquainted with the text, Mr. James is taking time for one-on-one “data chats” with his students—building connections, getting to know them as readers, and creating a strong classroom community. ❤️📖

Today in Ms. Orzechowski’s 6th grade math classroom, students explored division with unit fractions using pattern blocks! Rather than jumping straight to a rule or procedure, students worked together to build models, identify the fractional value of different shapes, and answer questions like, “How many ½s are in 4?”

Through hands-on exploration and discussion, students made connections between multiplication and division and developed an understanding of what it actually means to divide by a fraction. They did lots of building, drawing, debating, explaining, and revising their thinking along the way! 🧠✨
