The Finding Place

The Finding Place We are a non-profit that educates, encourages, and equips the Church to become active in the lives of orphans and at risk children and families.

It is our mission to bridge the gap between the local church and the child welfare systems. This includes, but is not limited to, any public and/or private foster care and adoption agencies. We will do this by partnering with churches to bring awareness to the great needs the local foster system, as well as to build relationships with the community to be a support to families in crisis as preventa

tive measures before children are removed from homes and placed in state custody. The end result will always be to see lives redeemed and families restored.

Foster Care & Education | Because of the lack of consistency in a foster child's life, due to frequent moving and relocating, a child's education while in the foster care system can greatly suffer. | www.foreverkids.org

"Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.” - Zechariah 7: 9-10

If you are looking to foster or foster-to-adopt there are two routes: public and private. To go the public route, contact your county's DSS and find out when the 10-week classes begin (usually they will have them twice a year). To go the private route, there are several agencies in North Carolina that do private foster care. Essentially the state contracts out to them, and they certify and license. Some of those agencies include: Lutheran Family Services (https://www.facebook.com/LutheranServicesCarolinas), Children's Hope Alliance (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Barium-Springs/57330699955) Seven Homes (http://www.7homes4kids.com/)

With the help of volunteers, donors, and faith partners, LSC serves vulnerable populations.

Any American Christian who sincerely desires to care for orphans should heavily consider adopting in the United States and/or fostering children. Nationwide, according to AFCARS in 2013, there were 402,378 children in foster care, and 101,840 of those are waiting to be adopted. In North Carolina, there are almost 9,000 churches. according to Children's Defense Fund, there were 8,828 children in foster care in 2012. If each church took one child to care for, the body of Christ would eliminate the state's foster care system.

I found this video shortly after I felt stirred by the Lord to become active in the lives of foster children and orphans. Watching this video tore my heart and sealed the deal for me, I knew I needed to step up and do something.

When we had a foster child brought to our home, this video came to mind. We had no idea what had unfolded in that 9 year old life, but we were certain it looked something like what was portrayed in this video. He had been moved to 7 different homes and was deeply attached to the few things that came with him that he could call his own. He had seen a lot in his 9 years. More than any child should ever have to endure.

This is very real. These kids need us.
