When was the last time you played Concentration? Last night Lions Christine and Andrew Evans challenged fellow Lions to match images highlighting our club serving the community over the past year. It was a Tail Twister TWIST on recapping some of the fun, service, and fellowship we’ve shared recently! Lions Online Tail Twister Group

Our own Lion Vanessa Sernal Rosalan gave an interesting presentation about the work of the the Massachusetts Lions Lov Vision Network (Mllvn Thirtythree En) at our May dinner meeting. The non-profit is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected with low vision, helping people to understand the challenges of vision impairment and offering services and financial aid to the community. We were able to try glasses that simulate the effects of glaucoma, macular degeneration, detached retina, and other imparements. Vanessa also demonstrated several assistance devices, including Meta smart glasses. MLLVN will be at our Seeing is Believing event this fall - we hope you will come and learn more with us!

Concord Lions Dan Reilly and Mark Fingerle (along with Hannah Fingerle) were honored to volunteer during the first ever Beep Baseball game at Fenway Park! Boston Strong Beep Baseball, who helped showcase the game at our Seeing is Believing event last fall, were taking on the Boston Renegades Beep Baseball, and together were celebrating inclusive sports and the amazing blind and visually impaired athletes. It was an incredible day — so proud to have played a small part! We look forward to hosting Boston Strong again at our Third Seeing Is Believing event this fall!

The Concord Lions were proud to play a small part in this historic event in April.

Fenway Park hosted its first "beep baseball" game Sunday afternoon, giving players with blindness or low vision a chance to show off their skills on the baseball diamond.

While the Lions Club motto is "We Serve", we also clean up! On April 25th, Concord Lions members Hannah Lim Fingerle and Mark Fingerle joined the Chelmsford, MA Lions Club 33-N club to help clean up Lake Freeman. Keeping our waterways and the surrounding areas clear of litter, debris, and invasive plants helps make them healthier habitats for wildlife, safer and more enjoyable for everyone, and preserves these natural spaces for future generations to enjoy.

Throwback to the Massachusetts Lions (District MD33) State Convention at the end of March, attended by several Concord Lions (Hannah Lim Fingerle, Heidi Clapp Webster, and Vanessa Sernal Rosalan pictured on right). It is always so informative (and fun!) to get together with fellow Lions to discuss how we can better SERVE our community!

Fellow Lion and VP of Development & Major Gifts at the Braille Press joined the Concord Lions in celebrating the completion of a Braille version of The Lorax. The Concord Lions sponsored and helped collate the pages of this classic children's story, bringing it to life (free of charge) for 325 families across the country. We are so proud to play a small part in expanding the availability of Braille materials and sharing the joy of reading with the blind and visually impaired.

Our work at National Braille Press yesterday involved collating the pages of The Lorax, the Children’s Braille Book of the Month book for April, which the Concord Lions sponsored. The NBP team has a well-organized process, and our small team was able to complete a couple hundred books during our visit. We can’t wait for the books to be in the hands of children and their families!
