208th Army Band

208th Army Band Welcome to the official 208th Army Band page. The newly formed band was attached to Division Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

The 208th Army Bandโ€™s history began in 1956, when the band was activated as the 108th Division Band after a lateral transfer of personnel and equipment from the 94th Army National Guard Band of North Carolina. In the early 1970โ€™s, the band was assigned to the 508th Support Battalion. In 1982, the 108th Band was re-designated as the 808th Army Band. Then, in 1984, the band was re-designated once ag

ain as the 108th Division Band and was reassigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 108th Division Training, and was designated a separate unit under the 108th Division Headquarters. In the spring of 2000, the band was deployed to El Salvador for 35 days as part of Operation New Horizons, Task Force Santa Fe, to provide musical support for morale and international community relations. Finally, in 2008, the band was re-designated as the 208th Army Band and assigned as a separate unit under the 81st Regional Support Command, and relocated to Concord, North Carolina.

If you've not seen SGT Mulligan in action, your only option for tomorrow evening is to come see the show. Don't miss it! We are thrilled to have this newly graduated MASTER'S DEGREE, (soon to be doctoral student) in conducting, leading us in Ives's Variations on America.

We appreciate so much about her, from her rehearsal technique to her quick wit and respect for each person in the ensemble. We are so lucky to have SGT Mulligan in our ranks! Did we mention she's also a fantastic clarinet player and marathon runner?

Come to our Memorial Day Concert at Finch Auditorium in Thomasville, NC tomorrow night at 7pm.

The crashing of this gong symbolizes the completion of a long weekend with a 100% inventory and inspection.

We had the pleasure of "hanging out" with the MCSGs most warm and helpful Supply subject matter experts this weekend!

They helped with getting a few of the kinks worked out in our current system and brought all of the smiles and positivity to this experience.

We are so thankful to CW3 Elicia Moore and SFC William Smith for sharing their expertise and guiding us into a more efficient way of requesting and receiving supplies!

What do you think...can we hire them to play percussion on the next concert???

This past weekend was a Battle Assembly for the books! We had the pleasure of promoting three Non Commissioned Officers in our ranks.

SFC Dana Emery came to us from the Air Force Bands. She is a French Horn player, a squad leader, a dedicated member of the honor guard and one of the most loveable people you'll meet. She cares immensely about her Soldiers and has a strong work ethic. She is a mother of 2 children who she is incredibly proud of and serves as a music teacher in her civilian life. We are so glad to see that the Army sees what we see in her and look forward to see where this added responsibility will take her!

SSG Scott Mills is an incredibly talented trumpet player, drum major and now works as our Supply NCOIC! In his past life, he was a Marine musician with many cool stories as a bugler in Washinton D.C. He is a proud husband and father of 2 boys and you may recognize him in the Charlotte, NC in his time working as the musical director for the renaissance festival in the fall. We are incredibly lucky to have this talent in our band and we look forward to where his work in supply will take us!

SSG Matthew Davis is a trombone player, dedicated member of the honor guard and a PT stud! He is a Soldier who takes great pride in taking initiative and working hard to make things better in the unit. He is often seen working behind the scenes with no need for "credit", making sure projects have been followed through, the building is clean before we leave for the weekend and in general filling the holes in anything we may have forgotten about. He is a proud husband and father and an award winning tattoo artist! In fact, you can admire his handywork on many of the members of our band!

Please help us in congratulating these hard working NCOs on their most recent accomplishment! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰

Being an Army Reserve unit means that we generally have 2 scheduled battle assembly days per month and 2 weeks in the summer. This band manages to provide an incredible amount of community and military support every year...generally nearing 150 various missions per year. We take volunteers from within our ranks to support military funerals, parades, concerts, military ceremonies, and the list goes on...needless to say, we are often going in a million directions on Battle Assembly weekends.

After about a 12 hour work day to prepare and perform our concert last night, we came in this morning to prepare for some very important administrative and supply work that will happen in the coming months...and then we took time to reflect on our year and work on our team building.

We discovered that we have some incredible talent, athleticism, and general eye for fashion! Congratulations to our "Best Dressed" winner SSG Alan Page (posing in the horizontal position of the group picture ๐Ÿ˜…), our holiday-scene drawing winner SGT Evans-Rivera, our "Most likely to not need night vision goggles" Stocking stuffer winner SPC Lorenzo and our "most likely to absolutely crush 1000 cups to win a musical cups game against a pregnant finalist" winner SGT Huddlestun.

It was a fantastic way end to the year together. โค๏ธ
