As many of you know, our streets are being worked on. With the Fourth of July holiday coming up I just want to remind those that may want to do fireworks in front of their house that this year you may want to restrain. The reason being is the rock surface can be damage causing potholes before they slurry seal. Also, the loose pavement could come up and hit bystanders with hot rocks watching the fireworks or hit other vehicles and damage them. Those that have currently been slurry sealed is is not fully hard until 30 days after it is poured. It is OK for cars and walking six hours after however, “Yes, fireworks can absolutely damage fresh slurry seal. The slurry is only surface-dry it is not fully hardened for up to 30 days after the application. It is still curing and chemically soft, making it highly vulnerable to intense heat, chemical burns, and physical impacts from fireworks debris. Fireworks can cause Chemical Staining and Mechanical Tears for example”
So, if you are planning to do illegal fireworks, please restrain from doing fireworks on any of the road work that is presently being done to prevent damage. Even though it is inconvenient the road work is going to make our neighborhood look nice, remove the potholes that caused car damage. Thank you very much for being a considerate neighbor. Reminder any damage that is done to the street, property, or person(s) would be the financial responsibility of the person letting off the illegal fireworks or If a minor possibly their parent(s) Added note We have been told that they will have extra police officers in the area due to the street construction to protect from road damage.
