Donate Used Holiday Toys and Decorations Before the Holiday’s

HomeAid would like to encourage you to donate your children’s used Halloween costumes, toys and holiday decorations to local thrift stores so that families can purchase items in time for some holiday cheer! So often we wait until after the holidays to make room for new purchases and we flood thrift stores with used toys and decorations after the holidays are already over.

In thrift stores run by HomeAid Care Providers the residents are often allowed to shop for clothing and seasonal items for free, in time to celebrate with their families. If you know your family will be blessed with holiday fun this year, please consider donating items early so that our neighbors with limited income can make their child’s holiday special – plus it is tax deductible!

Not sure where to take your items, here are a few:

HomeAid Celebrates Hall of Fame Inductees Mary Teichert and Glen Martin!

HomeAid Northern California is proud to celebrate our Board Members Mary Teichert and Glen Martin as they are inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation’s Hall of Fame! The Hall of Fame honors pioneers and visionaries in homebuilding who embody California’s spirit of innovation, recognizing individuals whose contributions have profoundly shaped the state's landscape.

As president and CEO of Teichert Inc., Mary is the fifth generation to lead the Sacramento-based company founded in 1887. Her ascension to the chief executive's office reflects both her family’s endurance in the construction industry and a deliberate climb through the ranks to steer the Teichert organization towards the future. Glen Martin, a third-generation homebuilder and Managing Director at Avila Real Estate Capital | Pacific InterWest, will be celebrated for his extensive career after more than 40 years of leadership in the building industry.

Please join us in celebrating Mary and Glen and the entire 2026 Class of inductee’s including; Patrick Fuscoe, Tom Grable, and James Schmid at CHF’s 41st Annual Hall of Fame Gala on July 28, 2026 (https://www.mychf.org/class-2026).

📢Need of the Hour – Donate to Tri-Valley Haven 📢

One of ’s most essential services is providing emergency shelter for families fleeing abuse in their homes. Tri-Valley Haven’s new Domestic Violence Shelter, built in partnership with HomeAid Northern California, is aptly named SHILOH, for peace. Tri-Valley Haven has been a vital community resource for decades, each year Tri-Valley Haven receives approximately 4,000 calls for help. That is approximately 11 crisis calls each and every day, from local survivors and their children fleeing abuse.

HomeAid is assisting with the construction of a brand-new facility for Tri-Valley Haven and we need your help to fund the project completion. Once finished this new shelter will increase capacity by 50%, allowing this new facility to give local families in crisis a safe place to call home for decades to come.

Please consider donating to this important regional project, your personal and/or business contributions are tax deductible - donations can be made here:

🎙️ Our own Executive Director, Crisand Giles, just appeared on the Unsheltered Conversations a podcast by — and the conversation is one you won't want to miss.

Crisand joined Glen Martin, a third-generation homebuilder being inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame, to talk about what it actually takes to build housing solutions in Northern California.

Some of what Crisand shared:

▲ The jobs-to-housing ratio in NorCal can reach 8 jobs for every 1 housing unit — making it nearly impossible for working families to find stable housing.

▲ Tiny home communities and interim housing models are meeting a real regional need — and not putting a timeline on people when they move in makes all the difference.

▲ "We shouldn't be 'othering' the homeless... each individual is one life incident from being in this situation. That stigma shift will help make it easier for us to build housing and propose more projects."

Show your support for Crisand and HomeAid Northern California — give this episode a listen and share it with someone who needs to hear it. Every play helps spread the message that housing with dignity is possible. 💙
