The Officers and Members of the Georgeville Fire Department are proud to announce that the Georgeville Fire District has officially received a Class 5 ISO Fire Protection Rating.

This marks the first time Georgeville has completed an ISO insurance rating inspection, improving from an ISO Class 9S rating to a Class 5 rating — a significant achievement for our department and community.

Effective September 1, 2026, homeowners within the Georgeville Fire District may qualify for reduced homeowners insurance rates. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance provider after this date to inquire about potential savings and updated policy rates.

This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, training, and commitment of our firefighters, officers, mutual aid partners, and the continued support of our community. We are honored to continue serving the citizens of Georgeville with the highest level of fire protection possible.

“Please be aware of the Statewide Burn Ban on all open burning until further notice”

Due to increased wildfire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28 until further notice.

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

The burn ban does not apply to fires started within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The local fire marshal has authority to issue a burn ban within those 100 feet.

🚨 Smoke in the Georgeville and surrounding areas 🚨

If you are noticing smoke in the area, please be advised that Stanly County is conducting a prescribed (controlled) burn at Morrow Mountain State Park, and Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation is also conducting a prescribed burn.

With Cabarrus County located between these two areas, some smoke may move into our community as a result of these controlled burns.

There is no cause for alarm. These burns are planned and conducted under controlled conditions for land management and safety purposes.
