May 31 is National Dam Safety Awareness Day. Dams are essential for delivering water and protecting our communities – and safety is always our top priority.

At Contra Costa Water District, we regularly inspect, maintain, and monitor our dams, including Los Vaqueros Dam shown in the first photo. In the second photo, staff are conducting a test at a dam facility to ensure systems and equipment perform safely and effectively during an emergency.

From daily operations to hands-on testing in the field, our team is focused on keeping people and property safe. Learn more about our Dam Safety Program: https://www.ccwater.com/1051/Dam-Safety-Program

Thank you to Rep. Mark DeSaulnier for meeting with our General Manager Rachel Murphy and Board President Ernie Avila along the Contra Costa Canal and exploring our full-scale exhibit of the future Canal Replacement Program pipeline!

I joined the Contra Costa Water District, which provides drinking water to CA-10 residents in central and eastern Contra Costa including Concord, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek, for a tour of the Contra Costa Canal. As a senior member in the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, one of my top priorities has been advancing local water infrastructure projects to ensure our community has modern technology to protect clean water.
