Yesterday, a vehicle was stolen from the downtown area with a dog still inside.

Thanks to the quick work of our Dispatchers and Officers, the vehicle was located nearby, and thankfully the dog โ€œHenryโ€ was safely recovered and reunited with its owner.

While waiting to be reunited, Henry got to take a little ride with Officer Zukowski and receive some well-deserved scratches behind the ears.

For many people, pets are family. Weโ€™re grateful this story had a happy ending. ๐Ÿพ ~596

PRESS RELEASE - Robbery

CONCORD, CA - Today, May 13, 2026, at approximately 12:16 PM, Concord Police Dispatch received reports of possible gunshots inside the Sunvalley Shopping Center.

Officers responded to the Piercing Pagoda kiosk located on the upper level of the mall. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspects had already fled the area in a dark-colored SUV prior to police arrival.

The preliminary investigation revealed that four unidentified suspects, described as wearing hoodies and gloves and armed with hammers, smashed a jewelry display case and stole jewelry of an undetermined value.

During the incident, the employee working at the kiosk was pepper sprayed but did not sustain injuries.

After taking the jewelry, the suspects fled through a nearby mall exit and were last seen leaving the property toward Sunvalley Boulevard.

The investigation has determined that no gunshots were fired during the incident.

Concord Police officers and detectives are actively working to identify the suspects and involved vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time.
