Winter is beautiful, but getting where you need to go this time of year is not always easy. Before you cancel that upcoming appointment or put off a trip to the store, consider letting Tri-County Transit handle the drive. Our Door-to-Door service offers safe, reliable transportation to grocery stores, appointments, errands, shopping, and more throughout Carroll County.

Riders ages 14 and up can schedule a ride Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 4 PM, with round-trip fares starting at just $6. Call 603-752-1741 at least 24 hours in advance to book your ride.

Not in Carroll County? Door-to-Door service is also available in Coös County and northern Grafton County. Visit tricountytransit.org or call the number above for details.

If you can’t get where you need to go, it affects your job, your social life, and your independence.

Earlier this year, ABLE NH hosted a Transportation Lunch & Learn focused on non-medical transportation through Medicaid waivers. We talked about how people with disabilities in New Hampshire can use this service for everyday life, not just appointments.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHfuFu6zP-0

This service can help pay for things like:
• Bus or rail passes
• Taxi or Uber rides
• Mileage reimbursement
• Transportation vouchers
• Learning how to use public transportation

It can be used for shopping, work, community events, visiting friends, and more. Medical appointments are not included, but many other trips are.

If you are on a Medicaid HCBS waiver, this option can be added at any time. You do not have to wait for your annual review. The first step is talking with your service coordinator and setting a goal that includes transportation.

Happening right now, the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Intermodal Transportation (GACIT). This is the culmination of the public process for adopting the state’s Ten Year Transportation Plan. The plan determines NH’s investment of funds for statewide community transportation, bike/pedestrian, roads, highways, and bridges projects/improvements. after GACIT the draft plan goes to the governor and then on to the legislature for adoption in the new year. Plan updates can be found at http://www.dot.nh.gov/projects-plans-and-programs/ten-year-plan.

Last full week to complete the survey and / or send to someone in NH who cares about transportation options for the future. We often think we will drive forever but the truth is on average we outlive our ability to drive by 7 to 10 years and in NH, on average, we start decreasing the amount / type of travel (e.g. nighttime, highway, local) at 43 years old!!!!

The deadline is fast approaching to fill out the Community Transportation Needs Assessment Survey. The survey has to be filled out and submitted by September 30th. You can take the survey at the following link: https://surveymonkey.com/r/transport_nh

There are over 500 grocery stores across New Hampshire. But having a store nearby isn’t
enough—people need reliable ways to get there. Community transportation bridges that
gap, bringing residents to grocery stores, pharmacies, utility offices, banks, and more,
especially in rural areas.

This , we celebrate the drivers, the routes, and the
services that keep New Hampshire connected to what matters most.

Thank you to all the community transportation drivers and support staff!

Thank you to all the community transportation drivers and support staff!

This Community Transportation Month, we extend our deepest thanks to the drivers who keep New Hampshire moving — one ride, one passenger, one stop at a time.

Whether you’re behind the wheel of a:
🚍 Bus
🚐 Shuttle or vanpool
🚗 Volunteer driver vehicle
🚑 Paratransit or non-emergency medical transport

You are the face of community transportation.

You show up early, drive safely in all weather, help riders with mobility needs, and make sure people reach the appointments, jobs, schools, and services that matter most.

To every community transit driver in New Hampshire:

Thank you for your patience, compassion, and commitment. You’re not just driving — you’re changing lives.
