The Cabarrus County Republican Party remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that every child in Cabarrus County has access to a high‑quality education that best prepares them for success in college, technical training, or the workforce.

In accordance with the North Carolina Republican Party platform, we believe restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities should be designated and used based on biological s*x at birth. We also oppose policies that allow biological males to compete in women’s sports, as fairness and integrity in athletics must be preserved for female athletes across North Carolina. The recent lawsuit involving the Cabarrus County School Board highlights the growing concern among families who want clarity, consistency, and safety in their children’s learning environments. Every child deserves a secure school setting, and we encourage Cabarrus County School leaders to find solutions to protect the dignity and privacy of all students and faculty. We encourage close scrutiny of the Supreme Court's recent West Virginia v. B.P.J. decision, North Carolina's House Bill 805, North Carolina's House Bill 574 and President Trump's Executive Order 14201 dated February 5, 2025, as a pathway to a new bathroom policy.

As this legal matter progresses, we encourage families to stay informed through trusted sources and remain engaged in the decisions that shape our local schools. Talk with the elected officials who represent you in local, state and federal government.

We are grateful that North Carolina parents have choices in pathways that best fit their children’s needs. The Republican Party will continue to support all educational choices for children that maintain local control over education and uphold traditional values in the classroom. Parents have the right to select a public, private, charter, homeschool, hybrid homeschool, microschool, religious school or other alternative that best meets their child's educational needs.

🚗 Big Changes Are Coming to Vehicle Registration in North Carolina Starting October 1, 2026

NC is modernizing the way vehicle registrations are handled. Under the new state law, the paper vehicle registration card and the annual license plate renewal sticker will no longer be issued as part of the standard registration process. Instead, registration information will be maintained and verified electronically.

Here's what you need to know:

✅ No more registration cards in your glove box

* Drivers will no longer be required to carry a physical vehicle registration card.
* Law enforcement will verify your vehicle registration electronically using the DMV's registration database.

✅ No more annual plate stickers

* The familiar month/year sticker on your license plate is going away.
* Registration expiration will be tracked electronically rather than displayed on your tag.

✅ Annual Renewals Continue

You will still be required to:
• Renew your vehicle registration every year.
• Pay your registration fees.
• Complete any required safety inspection before renewing (where applicable).

✅ Want a paper registration anyway?

If you'd still like a printed registration card for your records, you'll be able to request one from the NC DMV. The DMV may charge a small fee that covers only the cost of printing and mailing it.

Why is North Carolina making this change?

• Modernize the DMV.
• Reduce printing & mailing costs.
• Allow law enforcement to verify registrations electronically

What DOESN'T change?

❌ You still must renew your registration each year.
❌ You still need insurance.
❌ You still must meet inspection requirements when applicable.
❌ An expired registration is still an expired registration—even without a sticker on your plate.

The new electronic registration system applies to vehicle registrations and renewals processed on or after October 1, 2026.
