"All, in the past week, the practice of disrespecting our flag and national anthem by numerous sports celebrities has been highly publicized. Tonight I read an article of a man kneeling during Taps at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Last year, a young sailor posted her disrespect of our flag and anthem on facebook, and there are probably more.

Our country was built on selfless sacrifice of past, present and future service members. In my opinion, this is the greatest country in the world. As Americans, we enjoy the freedoms to express ourselves and believe what we want. As service members, we give up certain freedoms, so that others are free to express themselves.

As U.S. Soldiers, we are regulated by rules and regulations. We shall conduct ourselves in a manner that shows respect to everyone and everything. We shall represent the U.S. Army and our country in a favorable light, on and off duty.

Please remind your soldiers that the flag represents our country, and kneeling or sitting during our national anthem is not acceptable for any service member. Thank you."
