Deputy Chief Smagula, MPO Notarangeli, K-9 Charlie, and Officer LeBlanc were honored to be apart of the “final ride for Hillsboro Police Department’s Retired Police K-9 Gibbs.

K-9 Gibbs retired in 2023 after almost a decade of honorable police service where he saved numerous lives and caught countless criminals. Our thoughts are with Lt. Hodgen and his family during this difficult time.

National Military K9 Veterans Day 🇺🇸

Military K9s are specialized, highly trained working dogs used by all U.S. military branches for explosive detection, tracking, and security.

These dogs often face combat, injuries, and PTSD. They have been recognized as veterans by legislation.

Today and always we honor their service and are thankful for the amazing men and women who train them and work side by side with them.
