On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the 834th Transportation Battalion and Military Ocean Terminal Concord welcomed National Park Service, and Friends of Port Chicago for the 81st Anniversary of the Port Chicago Disaster. Together, on hallow ground, we honored the brave men who lost their lives in the explosion, July 17, 1944. Thank you National Park Service, Friends of Port Chicago, distinguished visitors, and guest for another heartfelt, solemn, and emotional event memorializing the service of those before us.
