On June 2nd, Concordia Senior Center hosted a Scamboree – a Scam/Fraud information session. Thank You to the Concordia Police Department, (Chief Paul Mapes, Det. Long, Sgt. Phillips, and Officer Summers) and Mayor Kaleb Nierman for sharing information about scams and fraud. No matter what our age or profession, we are all vulnerable to scams/fraud. Please be aware and always listen to your gut feelings. Do not hesitate to contact the Concordia Police department if you think you have been scammed. A special thank you goes to Chief Mapes for his very informative presentation.

Our event was an exciting one as we got to exercise the Senior Center evacuation plan due to a gas leak. Once we were given the all clear we returned to the Center and enjoyed a pizza lunch and SMP Fraud Information Bingo (very informative). Thank you to everyone that came to the event. Stay alert to fraud and scams – remember it can happen to anyone.

If you see something concerning, report it to the SMP.

Care Connection for Aging Services is looking for compassionate volunteers to join our Provide-A-Ride (PAR) program!
As a PAR volunteer, you’ll use your own vehicle to help older adults get to out-of-county medical appointments—providing more than just a ride, but reassurance, connection, and peace of mind. Best of all, you can accept trips when it fits your schedule, and mileage reimbursement may be available.
Volunteer requirements:
Must be 21 years or older
Valid driver’s license and insurance
Willingness to complete background checks
Ability to travel 1–2 hours from home when needed
A friendly, caring attitude 💙
