It is once again tall grass and weeds time along with possibly a bad fire season. Condon City Ordinance 93-02 (L) requires all property within the city to cut weeds, grass and vegetation to a height of less than 10 inches between May 1st and July 15th, All properties are also responsible for the areas up to the street pavement. The citation for violation of the ordinance is set at $500.

Placards for the hearing impaired! We now have a supply of wallet cards and placards which have been provided by the Oregon Association of the Deaf in partnership with the Department of Public Safety and Standards. These cards can be presented or displayed to inform Law Enforcement or other emergency services personnel that you may need assistance with communicating. I investigated a new twist in the phone scam business this week. A scammer (from Jamaica) tried to work his magic on one of our senior citizens. Finding he was having difficulty getting thru to our senior citizen, he actually called me at the Police station and tried to get me to go contact the vitim and tell her it was ok to give him her banking info! If you have a senior citizen in your home, try to monitor the calls they are receiving and check for note pads around the phones as seniors seem to take notes about the call. That will help us figure out what is really going on.

On March 28, 2018, John LLoyd Reser was taken into custody at his residence on Cottonwood St, on a Condon Justice Court Warrant for Contempt of Court. Mr. Reser was transported to NORCOR where he was lodged and will be serving a 10 day sentence.

I am investigating the shooting of a family pet, a cat, in the area of E. Spring St and Washington st on Thursday the 1st.. Almost daily I speak to a citizen who has received another scam call from the IRS, credit bureaus, or who knows what goofy claim. I receive these calls on my cell phones just as often. If I do not recognize the phone numbers, I don't answer them. The latest bunch of callers threaten to "send the COPS to your house and arrest you". No reputable business would use that term. I will Google the phone numbers and most often find they are listed as scam numbers and have numerous reports associated to the numbers. Federal agencies are always chasing these call centers but find they are in countries where English is not their first language. Remember, do not confirm or give out any personal information over the phone, unless you have personally called a business you know or do business with.
