šŸ† We’re honored to share that Mountain Resource Center Preschool has received a Triad Bright Futures Children’s Champion Award!

This recognition celebrates individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to ensure services for children from birth to age 8 in Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Jefferson counties are comprehensive, equitable, and accessible. Triad Bright Futures partners with families, providers, and community stakeholders to advance quality, equitable early childhood experiences across our region.

We are so proud of our preschool team and grateful for the leadership of our Preschool Director, Leslie Johnson, pictured here on stage with the award. Every day, Leslie and our educators create a warm, joyful, and evidence-backed learning environment where children build the skills, confidence, and connection they need to thrive.

Thank you to Triad Bright Futures for this meaningful recognition and for your continued commitment to strengthening early childhood systems for mountain-area children and families.

There’s still time to register your three- or four-year-old for MRC’s Colorado Shines Level Five preschool in the fall. Learn more at www.mrcco.org/preschool.

šŸ«Ž We had a very special visitor stop by our community fridge last month… a moose!

Only in our mountain towns, right? Our 24/7 community refrigerator is here to help neighbors access food when they need it—and apparently, it also caught the attention of one very curious four-legged neighbor.

As fun as this moment was, it’s also a good reminder that we share our mountain communities with incredible wildlife. Please admire animals from a safe distance, never approach or feed them, and give them plenty of space to move along safely. It’s always a great opportunity to try out the zoom lens on your phone.

Our Finance Officer Jennie dubbed him Bruce, and honestly… Bruce the Moose just feels right, doesn’t it?

Have you had a memorable wildlife encounter in our mountain towns? Share your photos or stories in the comments—we’d love to hear them.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you at future Mobile Food Share distributions.

🌈 Through play, preschoolers are learning so much more than we can see at first glance.

In this sequence, one of our preschool students explores a set of colorful arches by unstacking a tower and then carefully rebuilding it.

As he plays, he’s developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, spatial awareness, and patience. He’s also practicing focus, persistence, and the confidence that comes from figuring something out on his own.

For preschool children, play is learning. Each moment of exploring, testing, stacking, and restacking helps build the foundation for future academic and life skills—all while feeling joyful, creative, and fun.

Parents can find out more about our Colorado Shines Level Five preschool at www.mrcco.org/preschool.

If you’re interested in teaching in a warm, joyful, and evidence-backed program that focuses on both academic and social/emotional kindergarten readiness, you can learn more at www.mrcco.org/careers.

šŸ” Celebrate Father’s Day at 2Dads Eatery and Taproom ()—and give back while you do it! šŸ»

This Father’s Day, treat the dads in your life to great food, cold drinks, and a beautiful Bailey setting at 2 Dads Eatery & Taproom, where part of the day’s proceeds will be donated to Mountain Resource Center.

Come out for a meal that feels like a celebration—pub-style favorites with a modern spin, a full bar, and a welcoming atmosphere right along the river. It’s a wonderful way to honor dads, gather with family and friends, and support MRC’s programs and services for neighbors across our mountain communities.

šŸ§µšŸ’› Our hearts are full of gratitude for Quilts of Colorado, Inc. and the incredible generosity they shared with Mountain Resource Center.

Their gift of 51 quilts, 6 toys, 10 burp cloths, and 10 receiving blankets will wrap our neighbors in comfort, care, and love during times when it matters most. Every stitch represents kindness, and every handmade item is a beautiful reminder that our community shows up for one another in meaningful ways.

We’re extra thankful to Jacque Schneider for delivering these treasures to us. Thank you for helping bring warmth, hope, and compassion to families across our mountain communities.

šŸŽ“ We’re so proud of our preschoolers!

Last Thursday, May 21, we celebrated a big milestone at MRC Preschool as all of our students graduated—our four-year-olds on their way to kindergarten next year, and our three-year-olds stepping up to become preschool leaders.

We’re incredibly proud of how much each child has grown this year. They’ve built a strong academic start through early skills like pre-literacy, early math, problem-solving, and learning through play—and just as importantly, they’ve been developing the social-emotional skills that matter so much for success all the way through school: listening, sharing, building friendships, following routines, and managing big emotions.

That balance of strong early academics and social-emotional development is at the heart of our program, and part of why we’re proud that MRC Preschool has earned a Level 5 rating through Colorado Shines—the highest possible quality rating in Colorado.

As we celebrate this amazing group of graduates, we’re also looking ahead to next year. We have just one or two spaces left in next year’s class. To learn more, visit www.mrcco.org/preschool.
