🦟West Nile Virus Detected in City of Conneaut Mosquito Pools
The Conneaut City Health Department has been notified by ODH that three of the four mosquito pools collected within the City of Conneaut tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). The positive sample was collected on August 18, 2026.

Residents are encouraged to take simple precautions to prevent mosquito bites:
✅ Use EPA-registered insect repellent
✅ Wear long sleeves and pants, especially at dawn and dusk
✅ Remove standing water around your home
✅ Repair window and door screens

If you are in need of EPA-registered repellent or window/door repair kits, please stop into the office today.

CCHD will continue mosquito surveillance throughout the season.

The Conneaut City Health Department is seeking a Part-Time (Up to 20 hours per week) Co-Director of Nursing (Shared Position). Applicants must be a registered nurse, must possess a current valid Ohio driver’s license, auto insurance and have their own vehicle for reliable transportation. Provides professional public health nursing services to the community. Nursing actions are characterized by the exercise of independent judgement and discretion in providing those service. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Administers immunizations following all current recommendations and laws and documents vaccines administered on the ODH computer system, IMPACT SIIS; Orders and maintains vaccines and other nursing supplies and equipment; Provides health screenings in the community, including blood pressure screenings; Provides client education and community education; Performs TB testing and screening following current ODH guidance.

Salary- $23.00-$27.00 per hour- to be determined by the Board of Health

The beach at Conneaut Port Authority - Conneaut, Ohio has been posted for high bacteria levels. Yellow advisory means- the level of bad bacteria in the water has reached unsafe levels and could make you sick. Children, the elderly and those ill health or weakened immune systems are advised not to swim.

The beach at Conneaut Township Park is green with no advisories at this time.
