The Ashtabula County Auditor is supposed to be the one office that asks hard questions about how YOUR money gets spent.
Right now, that office is held by someone voters never chose. Oakey’s opponent was appointed in January 2025 by the county commissioners, after serving as real estate manager under the auditor he replaced. There is nothing improper about that. But it does mean the person reviewing county finances was handed the job by the same officials whose spending he reviews, and has never once had to answer to a voter for it.
Oakey Emery For Ashtabula County Auditor
Oakey Emery knows what it means to answer to voters. Conneaut’s Third Ward has kept him on city council since 2022. In that seat he has pushed back on Columbus shifting costs onto local governments, pressed for infrastructure the east end has waited on for years, and seconded Conneaut’s moratorium on data centers so the city could set its own terms before an outside company set them for us. He carries the endorsement of the Ashtabula County AFL-CIO Central Labor Council.
He also builds guitars by hand in his backyard shop. He is not a career officeholder, and he is not quiet when something simply does not add up. The auditor’s office belongs to the taxpayers, NOT to whoever is next in line.
Come meet Oakey Emery for Ashtabula County Auditor this Thursday, August 27 4:30-7:30pm at 657 Detroit St in Conneaut.
