Its a relaxing riverfront cabin nestled on a private oxbow on the Jacob Fork river in Burke County, NC. The cabin and grounds are available for rent. The cabin was almost exclusively hand built in 2014/15 by Gary Mull using traditional methods. It has a quaint rustic feel and appearance that will take you back in time. The all wood cabin sleeps 10 comfortably with 4 bedrooms, 1 full bath on the ma

in floor, a half bath upstairs and another bath in the basement. The house has a washer and dryer and is stocked with kitchenwares. Bed Linens are provided. Base Price is $150 per night for one family & $75 for each additional family per night. Pets are allowed for a fee. It has over 1500 ft of river frontage perfect for exploring. The river contains brim, bass, catfish, and trout that migrate down from stocked waters. Its 100% fishable by wading chest deep or less. The namesake of Mill Pond Lodge is the site where the old mill sat which was built in 1907. They damned up the river with logs back then and the iron stakes are still visible in the rocks. The old turbine for the mill is still there as well.

South Mountain State Park, about 5 miles from the Mill Pond, just happens to be a delayed harvest stream which means the first Saturday in June marks the season opener for Trout Fishing inside the park limits. NC Law requires that it be kids only till noon.

5 yr old angler Sam Jensen limited out in about 30 minutes this morning with guide Gary working double time to keep up with the fresh worms!

Sam could be overheard saying, "Wow, I'm really good at fishing!"
