Sheriff Zac Jones

Sheriff Zac Jones The official campaign page of Zac Jones, Republican Fayette County Sheriff Candidate.

I have faithfully served the citizens of Fayette County for 22 years with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. I currently serve as the Chief Deputy, as I have for the last two administrations. Through my dedicated years of service, I have learned much and have formed innovative strategies to improve our department and the relationship with the community we serve. I look forward to discussing

these ideas as we move forward with this campaign and to speaking with you about your concerns and ideas of how we can better serve you!

Please Support Jabin Collins for County Council District 2 on May 5th!

Jabin has served on the City Council for the past few years and has proven that he will always keep the taxpayer in mind when he makes his decisions. Jabin has also been a supporter of Law Enforcement and other First Responders. I believe Jabin will be a huge asset to the Fayette County Council.

I would like to send my condolences and prayers to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and the family/friends of Sheriff John Plasse. Sheriff Plasse fought a courageous battle with cancer and has finished his race.

Thank you for your service and leadership.

Rest in Peace. 🇺🇸

I would like to thank Sheriff Jeff Adams and Capt. Chad Blaes on their work to get this deal done. Jake and Ice are going to make a great team and I can’t wait to see the difference they will make in Fayette County.

Fayette County Sheriff Zac Jones and Union County Sheriff Jeff Adams finalized the transfer of Union County's K9 Ice. Through cooperation and a great work relationship, the two departments have came to an agreement that benefits both departments as well as both communities. Deputy Jake Lunsford will be Ice's new handler for Fayette County and will be attending Von Liche K9 Academy for training in June. In the meantime Ice and Deputy Lunsford will be using this time for the handler/k9 bonding time.

In the upcoming weeks the Fayette County Sheriff's Office will be providing updates on K9 Ice's and Deputy Lunsford's progress!

The Deputies at the Sheriff’s Office have been doing amazing things lately. Deputy Lunsford was in the right place at the right time and disregarded his own safety to help someone in need. I am extremely proud of Deputy Lunsford for his heroic actions.

On November 19th, 2023, Deputy Jake Lunsford was on patrol in Fayette County. Deputy Lunsford came across a Ford F150 traveling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Co Rd 375 S and St Rd 1. The vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the oncoming lane. Deputy Lunsford made contact with the driver, who was experiencing a medical emergency. Due to the driver's condition, he was pressing both the gas and brake pedals of the vehicle at the same time. The driver's foot then came off the brake and the vehicle was heading towards a large embankment and utility pole.

Deputy Lunsford took quick action, depressing the clutch pedal, preventing the vehicle from moving forward. Deputy Lunsford also was able to shut the engine of the vehicle off. Deputy Lunsford then cleared the airway of the driver. Lt. Kevin Perry of the Connersville Police Department arrived on scene to assist Deputy Lunsford in removing the driver from the vehicle. Sgt. Kyle McMurry of FCSD arrived a short time later to provide assistance, along with Fayette County EMS and the Everton Volunteer Fire Department.

We would like to commend Deputy Lunsford on his selfless effort in preventing any further injury occurring to this gentleman. It is actions like this, which personify the true definition of what a police officer should be. Deputy Lunsford will be receiving an official commendation for his response to this incident.

Deputy Josh Sparks truly embodies what it means to be a public servant! I couldn’t be more proud of Josh for his heroic actions during this tragic accident. Josh disregarded his own safety to help those in need. I am honored to be the Sheriff of Fayette County with a hero like Josh Sparks serving as a Deputy. Please remember while we honor Deputy Sparks’ heroic actions, there was a life lost and others severely injured. Please keep everyone in your prayers.
