Fran served as the voice of Spartan Sports on TV3 from 2009 through 2021, bringing excitement, professionalism, and a clear passion for the game to Spartan Basketball and Football broadcasts. He was also the longtime host of the weekly TV3 Spartan Sports Report, which aired every Monday and became a staple for local sports fans.
Fran’s broadcasting career began in 1952 at Connersville radio station WCNB. During his 25 years there, he became well known as the voice of Spartan Football and Basketball throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including his memorable broadcast of the Spartans’ 1972 State Championship game at Assembly Hall.
After stepping away from high school sports broadcasting for a time during the 1980s, Fran returned to the airwaves in the mid-1990s and continued covering Spartan athletics into the 2000s. His connection to Connersville High School athletics spanned more than five decades, leaving a lasting impact on generations of athletes, fans, and listeners.
Fran will be deeply missed by the Connersville community and by Spartan fans everywhere who grew up hearing his familiar voice call the games they loved.
