As we start the second month of school, we would like to take this time to remind everyone that if you don't stop for a school bus that has its flashing red lights on and stop arm out then you will be cited.
We have already issued 53 citations for this violation since the first day of school. The main location is on Park Road so please see the photo for when you do and don't have to stop on a multi lane road.

🚨 ATTENTION 🚨

We will be conducting real life, scenario based training today (8/28/26) from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. This training will include the use of increased, authentic sounding radio traffic and there will be an increased officer presence in the Triangle/Green Meadow Dr.

This is TRAINING ONLY.

Please share this post so we can try to minimize any fear or the spreading of any misinformation. This training is crucial for the development and conditioning of our officers to respond to the various calls and scenes that they will be required to respond to throughout their career.

We have been made aware of concerns related to property being tampered with during the overnight hours along the flood zone. We, along with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police will be conducting extra patrols in the area through the night and early morning hours.

Anyone found to be tampering with, stealing, or damaging someone else’s property will be held accountable, with zero exceptions. We encourage everyone to maintain the spirit of helping your neighbor and respecting those who are going through this extremely difficult time.

Parents, please make sure that your children are accounted for, not only for the risk of criminal activity, but for their safety.
There are still hazards that exist in the area and the risk will only increase in dark conditions.

We would like to say THANK YOU to everyone for the generous outpouring of food and drinks for our responders. It has been such a blessing for all of us to be so well taken care of as we try to take care of you.

With that being said and in the interest of not wasting food and allowing resources to be used more effectively, we are asking that no other food donations be made at this time, without scheduling it. If you would like to schedule food, please contact Amanda Faulk, as she has graciously offered to schedule food deliveries for responders. This will also help in limiting traffic in hazardous areas, as this continues to be an issue we are dealing with.

Again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the love and generosity you have shown.

🚨🚧 CAUTION 🚧🚨

Clean up crews have begun trying to assess and clean the roadways on the east side of town in the Vine St/E 5th St area. This will create some delays for motorists and those who are attempting to get back to their homes.

It is IMPERATIVE that we do not have extra traffic in these areas. Those who are driving through to record, take pictures, or just “look at the damage”, you are slowing down efforts for responders, clean up crews, and those who are attempting to collect what is left of their homes.

PLEASE STAY OUT OF THESE AREAS so we can safely assist in getting people back to their homes in the quickest, most effective way. If you are out of the affected area and wish to help, there are numbers available on the Fayette County Department Of Homeland Security & Emergency Management page to sign up to help and join organized efforts. Please follow their page as important information will be coming in hours and days to come.

Thank you all for your understanding and support these past 72 hours. Every kind word, nice gesture, meals that were provided, and the general sense of community have been seen and even more importantly, felt by our department and fellow agencies.
