Mettel Field, 500 Airport Drive, is the location to dump storm debris inclusing anything from inside the home. The lot is milled asphalt and there will be an excavator working to maintain the pile.

Water is receding, and Fayette County Highway crews are actively working to create a path to allow emergency crews to travel between the east and west sides of the Whitewater River. More rain is expected and we ask that you limit travel to emergency and essential travel only as we are currently under a level 3 (Red) Travel Advisory.

Fayette County is at a Level Red. Emergency Services should be the only ones out at this time. Several Roads are still flooded and several roads are closed at this time

CONNERSVILLE CITY & FAYETTE COUNTY FLOOD WARNING

The Whitewater River is expected to rise above its 18-foot flood stage and could reach approximately 23 feet, creating the potential for significant flooding throughout portions of Connersville and Fayette County.
If the river reaches the predicted level of approximately 23 feet, flooding could impact portions of downtown Connersville, particularly from Veterans Memorial Drive north along West Western Avenue and east toward the Whitewater River.
Residents should also be prepared for flooding in East Connersville neighborhoods near the river and in county areas along both sides of the southern portion of the Whitewater River, especially:
• Nulltown
• Alpine
• Robinson’s Whitewater Campground
• Homes near Ott Road
Floodwaters could also extend farther north and affect:
• Portions of Park Road
• Neighborhoods north of the CSX railroad tracks
• Areas potentially extending as far north as 17th Street
• County areas near Shelton’s Plat, Waterloo Road, and Neuman Lake Road
Residents in these areas should closely monitor conditions. If your home or business is in an area that could flood, make plans to relocate now and leave before floodwaters approach.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL WATER REACHES YOUR PROPERTY
Residents and businesses in flood-prone areas are strongly encouraged to seek a safe alternative location now and leave while it is still daylight and roads remain passable.
Conditions can deteriorate quickly as river levels rise.
For information regarding evacuations, call the Emergency Hotline at (866) 211-9966.
If you do not have a safe place to evacuate, Connersville High School will be open as an evacuation location. Please enter through the Office Entrance.

Again, use caution while traveling in the County today. This photo is the 4900 block of W Co Rd 75 North. The road is completely impassable.

We currently have deputies responding to several vehicles throughout the county that have attempted to travel through high water, and have stalled or been swept off the roadway. Thankfully we have no injuries reported yet, but we would urge you to avoid traveling through any water that is running across the roadway. If you see standing water, turn around and find an alternate route.

Today, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Deputy J. Lunsford and K-9 Ice had the opportunity to visit with members of the Blue Buffalo Human Resources team at their Richmond, Indiana, facility.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Blue Buffalo for its continued donations and generous support of our working canines. Their commitment helps ensure that K-9 Ice and other working dogs receive the quality nutrition and care they need to remain healthy, active, and ready to serve their communities.

Community partnerships such as this play an important role in the success of our K-9 program. We are incredibly grateful to the entire Blue Buffalo team for recognizing the value of working canines and consistently supporting the important work they perform.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Fayette Community Foundation and Eli Lilly for their generosity, and this opportunity. We are now able to partner with the Connersville Police Department and Connersville Fire Department and move forward with a project that has previously been impossible to fund. We are excited for the future, and very grateful to serve a community that supports us.

🚒🚑🚓 $725,000 AWARDED TO SUPPORT FAYETTE COUNTY’S FIRST RESPONDERS

The Fayette Community Foundation is proud to announce seven grants supporting the local organizations that protect and serve our community every day.

These awards were made possible by a $750,000 Community Support Grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. through the ninth phase of its Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow initiative, known as GIFT IX.

Grant awards include:

• Fayette County 911 — $23,500
• Fayette County EMS — $73,500
• Fayette County Emergency Management — $75,000
• Bentonville Volunteer Fire Department — $76,000
• Everton Volunteer Fire Department — $76,000
• Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department — $76,000
• Connersville Fire Department, Connersville Police Department, and Fayette County Sheriff's Department — $325,000

The grants will support updated communications systems, lifesaving rescue equipment, responder protective gear, emergency notification and mapping technology, and the development of a shared training facility for local first responders.

These investments were guided by a comprehensive needs assessment and the direct input of Fayette County’s first responder organizations. We are deeply grateful to every organization that participated in this process and shared its needs, challenges, and vision for a safer Fayette County.
