🚐💙 A HUGE THANK YOU to Chandler Crites and To Get It Fixed! 💙🚐

Because of your generosity and hard work, Shelter Inc. now has working transportation for our residents and a way for us to travel to community events together! 🙌

Reliable transportation means more opportunities to serve our community 🤝, attend events 🎉, connect people with resources 💙, and show up wherever we are needed 📍.

We will be getting the vehicle plated on Monday 🪪, adding approved drivers to our insurance ✅, and then… WE WILL BE MOBILE! 🚐✨

Chandler, we truly cannot thank you enough for the time, effort, and care you put into helping make this happen. Your support reminds us that it takes a community working together to create real change. 🫶

💙 Flood Relief Resources Are Available 💙
If you or someone you know has been affected by the flooding, please know that you are not alone. The Shelter Inc. at 431 West Western Avenue is open to the public and here to help. 🤝

🚿 Showers are available, along with towels and hygiene items.

🧴 We also have a hygiene closet and clothing closet for anyone in need.

🛋️ Need a safe, comfortable place to rest? Our lounge area has couches and a TV where you can sit and take a break.

🥪 Snacks, water, and a meal are available while you are here.

More community support is available, too:

📍 Sharon Cranfill has a relief station at the Rec Center, 312 Summit Ave. She is providing water, snacks, clothing, and other helpful items.

🐾 Dave Ryckman at the animal shelter is delivering donated dog food for families affected by the flooding, because we know pets are family too. He may also have other assistance available. Call him at 765-825-8693.

Donations are starting to come in and we are organizing it the best we can by size. Anyone who needs anything come by and get it. We are in the recovery center.

🚨 The Shelter Inc. is open to the public again following our return from evacuation. We have water 💧, snacks 🍪, and food for your dogs 🐾 available.

If you are looking for shelter or a safe place to go, we are here and ready to help. ❤️

A heartfelt thank-you to Sharon Cranfill 🙏, who generously housed us during the evacuation. She also has the Recreation Center open at 312 Summit Avenue with water 💧 and snacks 🍎 available for anyone who needs them. Another big thank you to Tiffany Ailes for helping us supply our buddy Prada (seen in picture) with dog food!

We are truly grateful for a community that comes together 🤝, supports one another, and shows compassion during difficult times. 💙

UPDATE 2- We are all safe and back at the shelter, the warming and cooling station is open and we have snacks and water for anyone who needs us.

UPDATE- the shelter is in the flood zone so we have evacuated to the Rec Center, located at 312 Summit Avenue. All individuals impacted in the community are also welcome. We will have refreshments available.

Our warming station at 📍431 West Western Avenue is open for anyone displaced from their home until dark this evening. We will have 🥨 snacks and 💧 water available, and our Blessing Box has been freshly filled with helpful items for anyone in need. 🧺🤍

Additional support is also available at the 📍Rec Center, 312 Summit Avenue, where Sharon Cranfill is welcoming people in. 🍲 Chili and other items will be available as well.

Blessing box was just restocked!

We have two bags of glass baby food jars to give to someone with children. They are mostly stage one beechnut and ge**er. They will not be in the blessing box as we do not put glass or sharp objects in the box due to children accessing the box but feel free to come to The Shelter and come into the warming station and ask for some of the baby food if you’re in need .

The blessing box was restocked with some size 7 diapers, medium depends undergarments, feminine hygiene and other items at our box at 431 west western Avenue this morning.

We are grateful to share that our new Blessing Box is now available to the community, thanks to Reflection Church of the Nazarene, Larissa Carson, her husband and friends, and Cynthia Hopkins. 🙏💙
We recently held an opening ceremony to bless the box and celebrate this new resource for our neighborhood. This box is open to the community and is here for anyone who may need a little extra support. ✨🤝
If you are able to donate, we welcome nonperishable canned goods, packaged snacks, and hygiene items. 🥫🍪🧼 Please avoid glass containers, sharp objects, and other unsafe items, as children in the neighborhood may access the box. ⚠️
We are so thankful to the church and congregation for their kindness, generosity, and commitment to serving others. This is a beautiful example of community coming together to help meet a need. ❤️

We’re so excited to share a little outdoor transformation here at The Shelter Inc.! 🌿🌼
Thanks to the incredible generosity and hard work of the Birgel family, we now have beautiful new bushes and trees bringing fresh life to our space. They didn’t just donate these plants; they rolled up their sleeves, planted everything, and even took the time to w**d and clean up the sidewalk.
The before-and-after photos truly show the difference their kindness has made. What was once a plain area is now welcoming, vibrant, and full of care, just like the spirit of our community.
We are so grateful for supporters like the Birgel family who help make The Shelter Inc. feel more like home every day. 💚
