Please take notice that the Town of Conquest Town Board will hold a public hearing on April 20, 2026, at 7 p. m. at the Conquest Town Hall located at 1289 Fuller Road in the Town of Conquest to consider the designation of four Critical Environmental Areas (CEAs) pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 617.14.
These proposed CEAs highlight the Townโs commitment to protecting interconnected forests, wetlands, waterways, and other natural resources critical to water quality, rural character, and ecological resilience.
The proposed CEAs are as follows:
Duck Lake-Howland's Island Conservation Priority Area-A forested buffer along Spring Lake Outlet from the headwaters north of Duck Lake south to the Seneca River, including the Howlandโs Island Wildlife Management Area.
Mud Pond Conservation Priority Area-A forested corridor extending from the headwaters north of Mud Pond southward into the Seneca River, supporting wetland and stream ecosystems.
Sterling Creek Conservation Priority Area-A forested buffer in the northeast corner of Conquest that protects the headwaters and watershed of Sterling Creek.
Seneca River Tributaries Conservation Priority Area-A forested buffer along two unnamed tributaries and a stretch of the Seneca River on the eastern edge of Conquest that stabilizes riparian habitat and promotes wildlife movement.
A full description of the proposed CEAs is available at the Office of the Town Clerk during normal business hours and upon request.
All interested persons should attend in order to be heard.
