MCSO Patrol Vehicle Hit by Drunk Driver While Conducting a Traffic Stop

Late last night on May 13, 2026, an MCSO Patrol Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the 29000 block of I-45. After making initial contact with the motorcycle operator, the Deputy returned to his patrol vehicle to verify the driver’s information.
While seated inside his marked patrol unit with emergency lights activated, a Honda CR-V entered the HOV lane illegally, failed to slow down or move over, and struck the patrol vehicle from behind.
The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Units responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the crash investigation.
The Deputy was evaluated at a local hospital and did not sustain serious injuries in the crash. The motorcycle operator was not injured and was protected from the collision by the positioning of the patrol vehicle.
The driver of the Honda CR-V, identified as 24-year-old Abdulazeez Hassan, was evaluated on scene by EMS and refused medical transport.
Further investigation determined that Hassan was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail at this time.

The 2026 MCSO Awards Ceremony was a huge success, and we are still feeling the warmth and energy from that room. We couldn't wait to share a few of the moments that made this event so unforgettable. The full gallery will be available on our website: www.mctxsheriff.org.

The afternoon began on such a high note as Sheriff Doolittle welcomed our guests and honorees with open arms. We were grounded in reflection by Pastor Mike Heuer, who led us in a moving prayer, followed by the ever-steady Judge Mark Keough, who led us in our pledges. Seeing the MCSO Honor Guard hold our National Colors high is a sight that always inspires a deep sense of pride and respect.

A massive thank you goes to Commissioner Pct. 3 Ritch Wheeler, who was our phenomenal host for the entire event. His entertaining style and wit kept the atmosphere vibrant, we truly love the spirit he brings to the stage! We were also deeply moved by Nelda Blair who delivered our keynote speech.

More than anything, the day was made special by the friends and families of our dedicated MCSO employees. Seeing you all come out to honor the amazing accomplishments and service of your loved ones is what it’s all about.
What an outstanding day for our agency and our community.

MCSO Attempts to Identify Vehicle Theft Suspect

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect wanted in connection with a string of vehicle thefts and burglaries spanning across Montgomery and Harris Counties. On April 28, 2026, the suspect was observed on surveillance footage entering several properties in a subdivision near Woodlane Blvd and FM 2978 in Magnolia, Texas. During this incident, the suspect stole a Ring Doorbell camera and a vehicle. While that vehicle has since been recovered, the suspect’s image was clearly captured on the stolen camera before its removal.

The investigation has further linked this individual to a second incident on May 6, 2026, where the suspect was captured on in-car video camera burglarizing a vehicle. Investigators believe this same individual is responsible for the theft of another vehicle, a silver 2017 Mazda MZ6 with Texas license plate KBT5949, from the Huntington Woods Estates subdivision in the Tomball area of Harris County. This vehicle has not been located and is still missing.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is working diligently to identify this suspect. If you recognize this individual or have any information regarding this case, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-760-5847 and reference case . To remain anonymous, you may also call Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867).

Safety First in Our Neighborhoods

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that school is still in session and our traffic safety efforts extend well beyond the highways. Yesterday morning, our traffic Sergeant conducted an evaluation in a local neighborhood following several speeding complaints to determine if motorcycle units should be deployed to the area.

Within a single hour, thirteen motorists were stopped for traveling at least ten miles per hour over the posted 20mph speed limit. These violations occurred at the exact time children were standing on the street waiting for their school buses. In one particularly instance, a motorist failed to stop even as the Sergeant stood in the roadway signaling them to pull over.

When drivers ignore speed limits in residential zones, they create a high-risk environment where a child could easily be harmed. The safety of our students is a top priority, and our traffic team will continue to take these complaints seriously to ensure our neighborhood streets remain safe for everyone. Please slow down and stay alert.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Inmate Search Feature is Now Live

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that the inmate search feature for the jail roster is now live and fully functional on our website and mobile app.
This updated system will look different from the previous version. Users are now required to create an account, which includes selecting a unique username and password and completing a verification step to confirm they are not a bot. Once registered, users can search jail roster information, including inmate booking photos, bonding details, and charges. At minimum, an inmate’s last name is required to conduct a search.
This new portal can be found by visiting our website www.mctxsheriff.org, clicking on the Commands tab, selecting Jail, then selecting Jail Roster. You can also utilize this new feature on our mobile app.
Why the Change
Over the past several months, many users noticed that the jail roster feature was temporarily unavailable. This decision was made in response to a growing number of scams exploiting unrestricted, real-time access to jail roster data. Scammers used this information to contact family members of inmates, posing as bail bond agents, Sheriff’s Office personnel, court officials, and others in order to fraudulently obtain money.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigated more than 55 scam cases directly linked to misuse of jail roster data.
In an effort to better protect our community and the individuals in our care, the new system includes enhanced security safeguards. These measures are designed to reduce the risk of bad actors exploiting sensitive information.
Important Reminder
Please remember that no employee of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, jail staff, or legitimate bail bond companies will ever call you to demand immediate payment of any sort. They will not request payment via gift cards, cash, or other unusual methods, nor will they pressure or threaten you.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives have identified and arrested 35-year-old Jeremy Michael Buckner in connection with the fatal hit-and-run that occurred earlier this week on U.S. Highway 59.

On May 7, 2026, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were requested by the Splendora Police Department to investigate a deceased male found alongside U.S. Highway 59. Buckner is currently in custody at the Montgomery County Jail and has been charged with Collision Involving Injury or Death, a Second-Degree Felony.

Sheriff Wesley Doolittle stated, “I am incredibly proud to work alongside the dedicated men and women of our Major Crimes Unit. This case reflects the relentless commitment our detectives bring to every investigation. We will not rest until justice is served for victims and their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Belvin family as they grieve. We hope this arrest brings them a small amount of peace.”
