Honoring the Legacy of Dolly Parton💗

At the Genealogy and Preservation Center, we pay tribute to the remarkable life of Dolly Parton.
Raised in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, Dolly dedicated her life to uplifting her home region of Sevier County and the broader Appalachian community. While often known for her music, her impact extends deeply into education.

She established the Dollywood Foundation in 1988, aimed to support the community. Launched the Imagination Library in 1995, inspired by her father’s struggles with illiteracy, this initiative provides free monthly books to children.

Her contributions continue to inspire and transform lives in her community.

Maybe you’re a teacher, hoping to look into fundamental economic booms that helped to establish our county? We’ve got that too! And even if you’re just curious as to what we really do in this corner of our beautiful Central Library, we welcome you with open arms. If you’re curious from afar or in need of some reliable resources from home, we also offer digital databases. Ancestry and American Ancestors available in-library only.
