Today marks the first day of the 2026 Summer Reading Program. This year's theme is "Unearth a Story" and programs are centered around paleontology, archaeology, and of course...DINOSAURS!!

The children's department here at Central is decked out and ready to offer our young patrons a ROAR-some experience!! We look forward to seeing you!!

🎉𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭!📚
All ages are invited to join in the fun June 1st through July 25th at your 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗴𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 libraries by participating in special events and a reading challenge with incentives. Prizes are available to those who reach their goal by the end of the Program.

This year’s theme is 𝙐𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮™ and will include free shows with performers including magicians and puppeteers, arts and crafts, movies and games, and more exciting events! Events are free and open to the public. If any individual requires an accommodation to participate in the library events, programs, or classes, please contact the host library at least 3 days before the program/event.

🎉𝗠𝗖𝗠𝗟𝗦 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀📚
We are excited to announce a new special resource-sharing partnership that will improve your access and choices to digital materials! The needs of our MCMLS patrons for digital items, including eBooks and eAudiobooks, has grown significantly. In March, we launched our own MCMLS OverDrive/Libby collection and have now joined this partnership that gives MCMLS patrons access to more than 500,000 digital items to help meet the demand.

Elizabeth Sargent, MCMLS’ Assistant Director of Support Services said, "An exciting part of MCMLS having our own OverDrive/Libby account is we have now officially expanded our partnership with Harris County Public Library beyond just print material. It also allows us to work with library systems such as the Houston Public Library, Beaumont Public Library System, Bryan College Station Public Library System, and Round Rock Public Library to expand our digital offerings."
