This "groovy" couple just celebrated their birthdays 70s-style and asked all of their friends and guests to donate to Family Promise of MC instead of bringing them gifts. Their generous gift will help families by supporting our mission. A big thank you to Richard and Kathie Caudle and friends for your support. You make a difference.

Today, on National Nonprofit Day, we’re celebrating the people who make our work possible.
Because of you, Family Promise of Montgomery County can walk alongside local families facing a housing crisis through five core programs: Prevention, Diversion, Stabilization, Shelter, and Housing.
Every donation, volunteer hour, sponsorship, and word of encouragement helps create something every family deserves: compassion, the opportunity to find stability, and a place to call home.
Thank you for believing in local families and for helping us turn hope into housing. 🏠❤️
Join us and get your tickets today for our Rise Up Luncheon Aug 20th. Link is in the comments. Your support makes a difference.

It’s move in day for this family with three teens. They are so grateful to be at Family Promise of MC. I wish I could share the joy on their faces when they walk into their room and see they have their own bed with bedding that is age appropriate reflecting their interests. We are intentional doing this for each guest. It’s an immediate sense of belonging as well as a natural navigation to their own space.

Our guest center is full of hope and possibilities for all 6 single Moms and a total of 17 children with ages ranging from 1 year to 17 years old!

Every guest family’s needs are different. Three families need a car for transportation and three Moms are seeking employment opportunities immediately.

Childcare costs, diapers, gas cards to get to work, increase in our utilities, pantry food, and laundry items are rising costs. We could not do what we do without our incredible partners and donors support to meet the growing unmet needs.

Getting everyone ready for back to school is upon us. That takes a focused effort to coordinate school enrollment and bus schedules.

Our hearts are full of gratitude that we have a safe place for families to transition out of homelessness into housing stability.

This is perfect timing. A big thank you for your abundant blessing of a great assortment of goods. We currently have a full house with 6 families and 17 children ages 1-17 years. They eat a lot and the pantry and supply closet gets depleted quickly. Thank you for your servant and generous hearts Tree of Life Lutheran Church

At Family Promise, we know shelter is more than a temporary place to stay for our families and their children. Our Guest Center shelter serves as a bridge, a place where families feel safe, supported, heard, and connected to their next housing opportunity. While families mostly enter shelter during a time of crisis, our shared goal is to make their stay as respectful, trauma-informed, and housing-focused as possible. Compassionate case management and a holistic approach for each family.

Finding affordable housing has become more challenging. Earned wages are not increasing with the cost of living in most communities.
Our Family Promise Affiliates nationally may provide shelter through several models, including:
• Rotational Shelter: Families stay overnight at different congregations or community partner locations while receiving coordinated services and support.
• Static-Site Shelter: Families stay in one dedicated shelter facility throughout their participation in the program, as we have in Conroe, Montgomery County.
• Scattered-Site Shelter: Families are placed in individual apartments, hotel rooms, or other community-based housing locations. This model is not funded by our affiliate.
• Transitional Housing: A structured, time-limited shelter option for families with higher barriers who may need additional time and more intensive support before moving into permanent housing. This is a BIG goal for this year: to develop a transitional housing program. We are exploring all the various options.

Regardless of the shelter model, services may include:
• On-site 90-day shelter program
• Meals, hygiene items, clothing vouchers, and basic-needs support
• Keeping children in school and child care assistance.
• Housing search and application assistance
• Support obtaining identification and vital documents
• Referrals to healthcare, behavioral health, childcare, schools, employment, and life skills training that includes safety planning and crisis support.
• Budgeting, tenancy skills, and housing-readiness support
• Connections to permanent housing resources
• Continued support through Stabilization after housing is secured.
Every day brings new challenges as we call opportunities to help families navigate into stability.
When shelter services are compassionate, trauma-informed, and housing-focused, families can begin moving from crisis toward stability, one step at a time. The shelter model may look different across communities, but the goal remains the same: helping every family move toward safe and sustainable permanent housing.

Your support makes this possible. YOU make the difference.
