πŸ’™ No place like home.
As severe weather moves through Montgomery County, we're reminded how important it is to have a safe place to land.
Please stay safe, avoid flooded roadways, and check on those around you. We're grateful for a community that helps ensure families have shelter when they need it most. 🏑✨

🩡 A new beginning is waiting.
This room is getting ready to welcome a new family on Monday. Fresh linens, made beds, and a safe place to land may seem like simple things, but for families experiencing homelessness, they can mean everything.
One of my favorite pieces of artwork in our shelter hangs in this room and simply says: "I am Worthy."
Every family who walks through our doors deserves dignity, hope, and the opportunity to build a brighter future. As we prepare to welcome our newest family, we're reminded that home is more than four walls, it’s feeling safe, valued, and supported.
Please join us in welcoming this family as they begin the next chapter of their journey. ❀️

❀️ A night at Family Promise ❀️

Last night was one of those evenings that reminded me why community matters so much.
While our parents participated in Life Skills Class with Gayle from Thrive Offline, our kids enjoyed Kids Club led by Kelly and friends from Just Serve. There was laughter, games, creativity, and plenty of opportunities for kids to just be kids.
Dinner was generously provided by The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, and judging by the empty containers at the end of the night, it was a hit! 😊
One of my favorite things about Family Promise evenings is seeing so many people come together to support families on their journey toward stability. Volunteers teach classes, serve meals, spend time with children, and create a welcoming environment where families can learn, grow, and connect.
Thank you to Gayle with Thrive Offline, Kelly and the Just Serve team, and The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church for investing your time, talents, and hearts into the families we serve.
It truly takes a village. ❀️

This morning I attended the Children's Safe Harbor breakfast hosted by Precinct 3.

One of my favorite parts of community engagement is getting to learn about the organizations working alongside us to support families in Montgomery County. Today was a great reminder that helping families requires all of us working together, from housing providers and counselors to advocates, educators, law enforcement, and community partners.

Thank you, Children's Safe Harbor, for the life changing work you do to provide justice, healing, and hope for children and families in our community. πŸ’™

Birthdays should be celebrated, no matter a family's circumstances. πŸŽ‚πŸ’™

Today we welcomed representatives from The Woodlands LDS Stake for a tour of Family Promise. Not only did they take the time to learn more about our mission, but they also brought birthday bags to help our families celebrate special moments throughout the year.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping create moments of joy for the children we serve. We appreciate your partnership and support!

πŸŽ‰ Another Family Promise Graduation! πŸŽ‰

Today, one of our families took the next step on their journey toward stability and independence.
As they move into their new home, they won't be starting with an empty apartment. Thanks to the generosity of our community, they'll have cookware, towels, cleaning supplies, dishes, laundry essentials, and other household items to help make their new house feel like home.

Every graduation is a reminder that family homelessness is solvable when a community comes together to provide support, encouragement, and resources.

Congratulations to this family on all they have accomplished. We are so proud of them and excited for this next chapter! πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ‘‘βœ¨ It's not every day you get to have dinner with a princess!
One of our youngest residents joined us for dinner last night in her favorite sparkly blue dress and matching slippers! Moments like these are a beautiful reminder of why Family Promise does what we do.
Every child deserves a safe place to dream, play, laugh, and just be a kid.

Fun fact: Thursday is one of our favorite days around here! 😊
Every week, Keep Us Fed delivers food that we share with our current and graduate families. Today's delivery included fresh bread, prepared meals, milk, fruit, baked goods, and so much more.
We often say that graduation isn't the end of the journey. We stay connected with our families and continue sharing resources that can help them succeedβ€”and food support is one of those resources.
Thank you to Keep Us Fed and Whole Foods for helping us make sure families have access to nutritious food each week. πŸ’™πŸ’›

One of our favorite pieces in the building got a special visitor today! πŸ¦‹
When we moved into our building in 2021, local artist Kristine McCool donated this beautiful butterfly painting. Over the years, it has become a beloved part of Family Promise and a symbol of the transformation we see in the families we serve.
When we noticed an issue with the frame, we reached out to Kristine to make sure we were taking proper care of it. Not only did she come by to help, but we got the chance to tell her just how much we love and cherish her artwork.
Thank you, Kristine, for your generosity, your talent, and for creating something so meaningful for our organization. ❀️

Last night, South Montgomery County Connections and the WISE Conference delivered an incredible donation drive for Family Promise of Montgomery County.πŸ’œ

In just one evening, they collected:
πŸ“¦ 197 pounds of household essentials πŸͺ 34 pounds of snacks!

Watching Catherine and I carry everything inside was equal parts heartwarming and a workout! πŸ˜…

These donations will go directly to families working toward stability, helping ensure they have access to everyday necessities while they focus on building brighter futures.

Thank you to everyone who donated, organized, and supported this effort. Your generosity is making a real difference in the lives of local families. πŸ’™πŸ’›
