Thinking about a career in the fire service? Lt. Austin Etzel and EO John Wiggins spent time at the TEEX hiring event this week talking with students about what it takes to become a firefighter and the opportunities available in the fire service.
There were plenty of great conversations with students interested in getting started in the profession, learning more about the job, and exploring what a future in the fire service could look like.
We’re glad to have Lt. Etzel and EO Wiggins out there sharing their experience and helping the next generation explore a career in the fire service. You never know — some of those conversations could be the start of a future career with South County Fire!

Last week was a busy one for South County Fire! Our crews joined several neighborhoods for National Night Out and wrapped up the week with a great time at the Oak Ridge North Fall Festival.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that brings neighbors and first responders together, strengthens relationships, and encourages conversations about community safety. We always enjoy spending time with residents outside of emergency calls and letting families get to know the people who serve their neighborhoods.

We appreciate our community partners and residents who help make these events possible. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

E112A had a great time visiting the kids at Kids 'R' Kids Legends Ranch today!

The crew spent some time showing the kids the fire truck, talking about what firefighters do, and answering plenty of questions. It was a fun visit and always a good reminder of how much these interactions mean to the kids in our community.

Thanks to Kids R Kids for having us!

Today, Station 11-2 spent some time training on vehicle stabilization and extrication.

Crews practiced the techniques and tools used to safely stabilize vehicles and remove patients after a crash. Regular hands-on training helps our firefighters stay prepared for the situations they may face on an actual call.
