Is your sidewalk thirsty? 🤨 Probably not. Check your sprinkler heads to make sure you’re watering the grass, not the concrete. It’s the easiest way to stop wasting 10 gallons every time the timer goes off!💧

💧 Did you know: Private water wells should be tested annually

📢 Lone Star GCD, in partnership with the Texas Well Owner Network (TWON), will offer complimentary water well screening for registered exempt private water wells located in Montgomery County, Texas.

Note: All groundwater wells in Montgomery County are required to be registered with LSGCD.

📅 Screening results will be provided during the LSGCD Symposium on October 29, where Dr. Joel Pigg of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and TWON coordinator, will lead an educational session titled “Well Informed.” The session will cover water well basics, Water Wells 101, water quality, and an explanation of participants’ sample results.

Tickets to the LSGCD Symposium are free of charge. However, space and funding for the water well screening are limited. Secure your screening opportunity today!

☀️💧 Hot Days, Smart Watering

With 100° F temperatures, it's tempting to water more. However, some of the biggest increases in water use occur during the hottest days of the year, and much of that water can be lost to evaporation or overwatering.

Simple ways to conserve water this summer:
✅ Water lawns and landscapes early in the morning
✅ Water only when plants need it
✅ Sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of using a hose

Did you know: When temperatures climb into the upper 90s and 100s, it's natural for lawns to experience some stress. In fact, many warm-season grasses can go dormant during hot, dry periods and green up again when cooler temperatures and rainfall return.

It's okay if your lawn isn't perfectly green during the hottest days of summer. Water wisely, avoid overwatering, and help conserve our valuable water resources.
