Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

This Memorial Day, the members of the Conshohocken Police Department extend our deepest gratitude to those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We also keep their families, friends, and fellow service members in our thoughts today.

May we never forget their courage, service, and sacrifice.

UPDATE:

While this incident served as an important reminder for our community to remain vigilant and continue conversations about child safety, our department has since identified the individuals involved.

What was initially reported as a concerning and alarming situation for the child and family ultimately appears to have been the result of poor judgment and immature behavior by local teenagers, rather than an attempted abduction.

We are grateful the student acted quickly by going home and informing their parents, and we appreciate the prompt response from all involved.

Incidents like this still highlight the importance of awareness, open communication, and teaching children how to respond in uncomfortable or suspicious situations. Thank you to everyone in the community who remained attentive and supportive.

COMMUNITY SAFETY ALERT

Parents and residents are urged to remain vigilant following a suspicious incident reported near Conshohocken Elementary School yesterday afternoon.

On Tuesday, around 4:30 p.m., a child walking home from school was reportedly approached by an unknown individual driving a white SUV on the 100 Block of East 3rd Avenue. The driver allegedly attempted to get the student into the vehicle by offering a ride and candy. The child safely returned home immediately and notified their parents, who then contacted police and school officials.

This incident serves as an important reminder for families to review safety precautions with children, including:

• Never accept rides, gifts, candy, or money from strangers
• Stay alert and avoid distractions while walking home
• Walk with friends or groups whenever possible
• Immediately leave the area and seek help from a trusted adult if approached by someone suspicious
• Memorize important phone numbers and safe locations along their route home

Parents are encouraged to regularly discuss “stranger awareness” and situational safety with their children in a calm and age-appropriate manner.

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or has information related to this incident is asked to contact the Conshohocken Police Department at 610-828-4032.

Please continue to watch out for one another and help keep our community safe.
