Converse Animal Care and Facility is the government service and facility for the City of Converse and responsible for:
· Providing a safe humane shelter for unwanted, stray, abused, and impounded animals in accordance with state and city regulations in a cost-efficient and effective manner.
·Balancing the health, public safety, and welfare needs of people and animals.
·Enforcing animal related law

·Investigating cases where animal care is questionable.
·Finding new loving homes for homeless animals at our shelter.

Our shelter will be closed Thursday, September 3rd for Play Group Training with Best Friends Animal Society.

We’ll be back to our normal hours of operation on Friday, September 4th, from 8 AM–5 PM.** 🐶🐱

One of our sweet puppies found their forever home today! 🥹🏡🐶 We couldn’t be happier to see another one of our shelter pups starting the next chapter of their life.

And thanks to Telemundo 60 San Antonio Clear the Shelters their adoption fee was FREE! 🎉

✨ All of our adoptions are FREE through Monday! ✨

It’s enrichment time at the shelter!🐾

A little mental stimulation goes a long way💙 We rotate through different types of enrichment to keep our animals engaged, active, and happy. Today, we opted for puzzle feeders! 🧩🐶

Puzzle feeders encourage dogs to use their natural problem-solving skills and make mealtime more engaging. Instead of simply eating from a bowl, they get to sniff, think, paw, nudge, and work for their treats! It provides mental stimulation, helps prevent boredom, encourages natural behaviors, and can be a great way to break up the shelter routine.

Shelter life can be stressful and repetitive, so enrichment gives our animals something positive to look forward to and helps make their day a little more exciting. ❤️
