We love foster updates 🤎🐾

Since September 2025, Carly Marie has been waiting for her next chapter. Fast forward September 2026, she headed into foster care, and we recently received the sweetest photos showing just how much she’s thriving!

At 8 years old, she still has so much love to give, and we’d love to see her spend her golden years in a home of her very own. A huge thank-you to her foster for giving her a chance to relax, feel loved, and enjoy life outside the shelter. 🥹

Could you be the one to give this senior girl her happily ever after? If you’ve been thinking about adopting a senior dog, she might just be your girl. ❤️

⚠️ PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE

Converse Animal Care has confirmed that a raccoon found within city limits last week tested positive for rabies. The raccoon was impounded during normal operations and submitted for testing out of an abundance of caution.

Here’s how you can help keep your family and pets safe:

🐾 Vaccinate your pets. Rabies vaccination is required by Texas law and is your pet’s best protection against the virus. Penny Paws hosts a mobile vaccine clinic in the Converse Animal Care parking lot on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. We’ll also be announcing an upcoming Community Rabies Vaccine Drive soon, so keep an eye on our social media!

🦝 Keep your distance. Never approach, handle, or feed stray or wild animals, especially those acting unusually.

🗑️ Secure food sources. Keep trash cans secured and pet food indoors to avoid attracting wildlife to your property.

🚨 What should you do if an exposure occurs?

- If you are bitten or scratched: Immediately wash the wound with soap and water, seek medical attention, and report the exposure to Converse Animal Care.
- If your pet may have been exposed: Contact your veterinarian immediately and report the incident to Converse Animal Care.

Rabies is a serious disease, but taking precautions can help protect our community. Please share this information with friends, family, and neighbors to help keep Converse safe! 🐾

🕯️🤍 In honor of Día de Mu***os, we’re creating an ofrenda at the shelter to remember and honor the beloved animals who have crossed the rainbow bridge. 🐾

We invite our community to bring a photo of a beloved pet who is no longer with us to be included on our ofrenda. Our babies may be gone from our arms, but they’ll always hold a place in our hearts. 🤍

Please note: Photos brought in will become part of our ofrenda and will not be returned, so please bring a copy rather than an original or we can make a copy here
