Scattered to numerous severe storms are expected Wednesday afternoon into the night from eastern Texas across the Lower Mississippi Valley into the Southeast, with the greatest risk from Mississippi into Alabama.

• Morning – Early Afternoon: Isolated storms possible from into northern Mississippi/Alabama/Georgia
• Late Afternoon (After 4 PM): Storms rapidly develop from eastern Texas into Mississippi
• Evening – Overnight: Severe storms spread east into Alabama, Georgia, and the southern Appalachians

A strong storm system will move out of the Plains, bringing powerful winds aloft and a very humid, unstable air mass across the region. This setup will support scattered to widespread thunderstorms, many of which could become severe.
During the late afternoon and evening, supercells are expected to develop along and ahead of a cold front, capable of producing tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds. The greatest tornado threat will be across Mississippi into Alabama, where wind profiles and moisture are most favorable.
As storms become more numerous into the evening and overnight, they may organize into lines or clusters, increasing the threat for widespread damaging winds, especially extending east into Georgia.
