Update. The level 3 evac came from the state not us in the local. We are not aware of any danger at this time. It was given out of an abundance of caution. Still a public meeting at 7:30 at Conway fire hall.

Great news for Conway School and this community! Thank you voters for going out and supporting this measure.

Voters in the Conway School District are approving both a two-year, $2.24 million replacement educational programs and operations levy and a two-year, $160,000 replacement technology and capital projects levy.

Tomorrow is your deadline to vote for this small increase in budget for our school! After overseeing the process and the needs, this levy is being done for the right reasons!

Please vote yes tomorrow on the Conway School Levy! We are building tomorrow’s lawyers, doctors and engineers!!

In case you missed it in the voter’s pamphlet, here is the “argument for” the levy, written by a group from the levy committee. Vote YES for Conway School!

“Inadequacy in state and federal academic funding has been demonstrated by recent county-wide increases in local school levies. Despite these deficiencies, Conway has consistently retained one of the lowest education tax rates in the county. At the current levy rate, taxes for a $400,000 property are $600; with the new proposed rates, taxes would only increase by $40 in the first year, and $60 in the second year.
This minimally increased rate was determined after careful assessment by a committee of community members, parents, and school employees in an effort to best balance necessities for the school and financial impact on taxpayers. Committee members then sat in on school board meetings and witnessed the fiscally conservative approach and intricate considerations that were taken to assess the school’s budget and deficiencies that the incoming levy could rectify. The consensus was that this small increase for taxpayers would have a significant effect on the quality of education at Conway. Managed responsibly, these levy funds would enable the district to continue to support our students with competitive STEM curriculum, essential safety and emergency equipment, additional staff for classrooms (including before/after school academic support), and sports team development.
Voting yes for Conway School will foster the superior education and enrichment of our future community leaders at a minimal cost to our taxpayers. Investing in our school ensures the continuation of our reputation for outstanding education, drawing in desirable new residents and bringing back those who were raised here.”

All right folks, it is that time of year. School Levy's are out on the ballot and the deadline for voting is February 11, 2020!!! Please vote yes if you are living in the Conway School District!!

I was a participant and worked on the levy with a group of people from the community, including teachers, parents and concerned citizens. It was an interesting and positive experience. We held several meetings and came up with a small increase in order to better fund the school.

They impressive part was when it was presented to the Conway School Board, was they respectfully declined our size of increase and reduced it slightly to better fit the needs of the District! As a fiscal conservative, this is exactly the action I want to see as a taxpayer. Quality government management and fiscal responsibility! This is why I highly recommend voting "YES" on the Conway School Levy for 2020!!

Here is some information regarding the upcoming levy. As part of the team which put together an increase proposal, I was impressed with the Board of Directors who respectfully declined our suggested rate, as they were able to fund some more programs without a large increase. This modest increase shows me that not only is the Board fiscally responsible, but shows that we can support this levy for the benefit of our great Conway kids!! Thanks for your vote on February 11, 2020!!

So I started this page to explain the upcoming Conway School Levy process. A bunch of teachers, administrators, parents and community members had three meetings to make recommendations on a levy, if there would be an increase in the levy, etc.

The group made recommendations on how much of an increase there should be, based on prior levy use and where the group believed the money should be spent.

The recommendations were sent to the Conway School Board and the amount that was recommended was actually reduced by the board! This is how government works, when fiscal responsibility is implemented.

I was very impressed with the whole process and respectfully request that you vote for this minor increase in the operating budget for Conway School!!
