Eight years ago, just after 1:00 a.m. on May 24, 2018, someone made the decision to shoot from a vehicle, at the occupant of a parked SUV in front of a home in Conway, Arkansas.

Jody Loring Jr., only 18 years old, had just gotten into the driver's seat. He had nowhere to go and no way to escape. His girlfriend and their 3-month-old child were only feet away inside the home.

The incident cost Jody his life. It cost all those who loved him a part of theirs as well.

According to investigators, Jody had no known enemies, and there has never been any indication he did anything to contribute to what happened to him.

Yet someone made the decision to take a life.
And someone else made the decision to stay silent.

Today, you have the opportunity to make a different decision.

Investigators have narrowed their focus to a small group of individuals. They also know there are people who were not directly involved in the incident who still possess critical information about what happened.

If fear, loyalty, or uncertainty kept you from speaking then, know that there are ways to share information safely and confidentially.

The pursuit of truth and justice for Jody will never stop. Help us bring answers to all those who loved him.

Someone knows what happened.

Please SHARE. We remember Jody and ask our community to honor his memory as well. Sharing might just help us reach the persons who have been waiting for the right moment to come forward.

On May 24, 2018, just after 1:00 a.m., 18-year-old Jody Loring Jr. stepped out of his girlfriend’s home and walked a few steps to his SUV. Within moments of getting inside, another vehicle pulled up and gunfire erupted.

There was no time to react. There was nowhere to go.

The occupants of that vehicle took Jody’s life. They took away a future that was meant to be his. They took away a life that will forever be remembered and forever be missed.

Just days earlier, Jody had graduated from high school. He and his high-school sweetheart were the proud new parents of a three-month-old little boy. Jody was glowing in fatherhood and was so excited about the plans he had for his son and the future ahead of them.

Jody was the kind of young man people naturally gravitated toward. He was deeply loved by his family, respected by teachers, cared about by friends, and known throughout the community for the person he was. His loss sent shockwaves through the lives of everyone who knew him.

For the people who loved Jody, time has not lessened the grief or the questions left behind that night. A son lost his father. Parents lost their child. His sweetheart lost her love and the laughter they shared. Friends lost someone they believed would always be there.

Jody mattered. His life mattered. And his story deserves to continue being told.

His family has spent nearly eight years carrying the weight of questions we know someone has the answers to.

We know there are people who know exactly what happened that night. We know there are people who have remained silent since May 24, 2018.

For Jody. For his son. For the people who still carry this loss every single day — we are asking you to come forward.

Time does not erase responsibility.

Kajala Lawson was only 25-years-old when she was shot and killed as she sat in the driver’s seat of her Jeep Compass. It was November 2022 in the middle of the night. She had just pulled up into the yard of her friend’s house on Reedy Rd. The person who targeted her did so under the cover of darkness.

She is painfully missed by all those who loved her.
Kajala deserves Justice. Her family deserves answers, and peace.

Someone knows more than what they’ve said, but their silence will not last forever.

Justice does not forget.
And neither do we.

We ask our community to remember with us, to honor her life and her beautiful memory.
For those who have information, it’s time to come forward.

The Conway Police Department is committed to seeking justice on behalf of those who can no longer speak for themselves. We appreciate the feedback we have received and we will provide updates on Kajala’s case as we are able.

This is not over.

Kajala Lawson was only 25-years old – full of life and laughter, and so deeply loved, when her life was violently and intentionally taken on November 21, 2022, by a person who remains unaccountable – free to continue living their life, while her family and those who love her still grieve.

Someone holds the key to the questions still unanswered.

There are two groups of people who may hold a missing piece. Is one of them YOU?

The first group is the people who were in the area of College Ave. and Reedy Rd. that night. Sometime between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM, someone heard something – or someone saw something. A gunshot. A car. Voices. Movement. A sound that may have woken you – and made you pause before going back to sleep. Some thought it may have been a dream. Some told themselves it was nothing. But something felt off. Someone may have been driving by or maybe looked out a window and saw something. A vehicle taking off. A shadow of a person on foot. A lone bicycle heading away in the dark of night. Headlights. Maybe it was you – but you never said anything because you didn’t think it was important. It is.

Whatever it was – it was something.

The second group is the people who knew Kajala – her family, friends, coworkers, classmates, neighbors, and those connected to the people closest to her life.
She worked, she had routines, she had people around her every day.
After her death, people noticed changes.
Conversations happened.
Silence settled where answers should have been.
Someone seemed off. Someone had tension with her. Someone became unusually quiet. Someone seemed nervous, angry or fearful. Someone’s behavior changed. Someone wanted others to stay quiet.
And someone else noticed.

Was it YOU?

Sometimes the truth is held in the smallest detail.
If you know something – whether you were nearby that dark night or part of her circle – we need you to come forward. She needs you to come forward.
You may remain anonymous or speak with us confidentially.

It’s time for justice for Kajala. It’s time for peace for her family.

This is Kajala. 25-years-old. Her life was violently stolen from her on November 21, 2022 by someone who is still living free amongst us.
Someone who could do it again.
Do you know who they are?

We are not going to stop until those responsible are brought to justice.

Kajala was so full of life, loved beyond measure, and she is still deeply and painfully missed. Like so many young adults, she was working hard, forging a life and a future for herself and having fun while she was doing it.

Her eyes lit up when she smiled~ you can see it in every photo shared by her friends and family. Her joy was genuine and evident in everything she did. Her laughter could fill a room. Her love for life was contagious and her loyalty to her family and friends ran deep. Those who knew her can’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt her ~ they say she just wasn’t that kind of person. Those who loved her live with the painful loss everyday.

She should still be here.

Behind every unsolved case is a story – a life that mattered. A life that still matters. There are family and friends still praying, weeping, hoping, grieving. They are still waiting for answers and still living with the void that should have never been created.

Someone knows something. A conversation, a memory, a detail that may have seemed small could be the piece that helps bring answers home and peace to those who love her. What do you remember from then? What have you questioned that’s happening now?

If you have information, we encourage you to come forward. You can call or text our tip line at (501)536-0082, you can message us here, or you can email us at: [email protected].
You can remain anonymous or speak with us confidentially.

Someone connected to this case knows exactly what happened that night.

Maybe you were afraid to come forward then. Maybe now you’ve grown tired of the weight on your conscience. Or maybe at the time you didn’t think what you knew, saw, or heard was important. The information you have might be crucial to solving this case.

On November 21, 2022 sometime after 1:00a.m., Kajala Lawson left one friend’s house and drove to another’s on Reedy Rd. in Conway, Arkansas. She pulled her black Jeep Compass up in the yard near the home, but before she even had the chance to open her car door, her life was taken. It was violent. It was intentional. Those responsible have had the privilege of living their life every day since, free and unaccountable, while her mother still weeps and her family still seeks answers. Everyone who loved her still feels the weight of her absence.

Time has passed, but justice does not expire.
We refuse to let the voices of victims be silenced. We need your help.

Someone saw something.
Someone heard something.
Someone holds a piece that is important.
Someone knows who did this.
Is it you?

If you were near College Ave. and Reedy Rd. that night, or if you know people connected to Kajala, think back. What you noticed, or what you weren’t sure about then, could be important to the investigation.

It could have been:
A vehicle that didn’t belong.
Someone leaving the area quickly.
Headlights, movement, or a sound you can’t forget.
A conversation, a conflict, something that didn’t feel right, before, after, or now.

It’s time for justice for Kajala.
It’s time for peace for her family.
It’s time for the one who may have been afraid to come forward, to come forward now.

There is still a reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.

PLEASE SHARE THIS.
One share could reach the one person who is still choosing silence.

And please join us next Monday as we continue her story.

10:17 a.m. November 21, 2022: Conway Arkansas Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call about an unresponsive female inside a vehicle. The fire department, emergency medical services, and police were immediately dispatched, and soon arrived at the scene.

25-year-old Kajala Lawson was in the driver’s seat of her black Jeep Compass. The vehicle was parked on the grass in the front yard of her friend’s home on Reedy Rd. A large tree was just steps away from the driver’s-side door of the Jeep. The front of the vehicle was facing the house, which was only feet away.
But she never made it inside.

It appeared she never even had a chance to open her door.

Her keys were in the ignition. The engine was still running. The driver’s window had been shattered and broken glass was scattered across the ground. Bullet casings were recovered.

Kajala was pronounced deceased at the scene.

We believe she arrived at the home in the dark early morning hours, between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.
We believe her life was taken shortly after her arrival.
She was not discovered until after 10:00 a.m

Investigators were called to the scene. They gathered evidence and information and worked to piece together what happened, but there are still unanswered questions.

We know someone has information that hasn’t been shared. We know someone has hesitated to come forward.

Did someone you know behave differently after the incident?
Do you remember rumors circulating about this case?
What were the whispers between friends and co-workers?
Did you live in the area and think what you heard or saw wasn’t important?
Did someone ask you not to talk about it?
If something has stayed with you, even a small detail may be more important than you realize.

Someone knows something.

If you have information, please reach out. You can speak with us anonymously or confidentially.

Kajala’s life mattered. It still does.

We ask for your help as we seek justice for Kajala, and peace for her family. It’s time. We want you to know what kept you silent then, doesn’t have to keep you silent now.

What do you remember?
