Save the Date for CPL's Book Group - Monday, June 15th at 4:00 PM

The book group normally meets on the third Monday of each month in the Periodical Room, except when the original date falls on a holiday. In June, the book pick will be "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt. Extra copies are behind the front desk.

In a heartwarming story, an elderly widow forms an unlikely friendship with Marcellus, a grumpy yet intelligent giant Pacific octopus at a local aquarium. As their bond grows, Marcellus helps her unravel the truth behind her son’s decades-old disappearance. "Remarkably Bright Creatures" explores themes of friendship, hope, and the transformative connections that can arise in the most unexpected places.

Odyssey of the Mind needs your help!

Now is your chance to be part of the unknown and showcase the magical tales of the Mount Washington Valley. Put on your best cryptid look, find the perfect location, and capture that amazing shot!

Here are some guidelines:
- Pictures must be appropriate for all ages.
- Photos must feature a person dressed as a cryptid and cannot be AI-generated.
- Be creative and think about what would look great on your wall for an entire month.

For a chance to be included in this year's calendar (featuring cryptids only), please submit your high-resolution photos to [email protected] by September 1st.

Join us on September 9th at Cheese Louise for the community reveal, where you can vote for your favorites using your wallet. Twelve of the top choices will be featured in our 2027 MWV Cryptid Calendar. Calendars will be available for pre-order through October 31st.

All money raised will support our local Odyssey of the Mind teams, which serve students from grades K-8 throughout the Valley and are part of a STEAM-based, kid-led program.
