This evening at 06:10 P.M, we responded to a report of a fire in a basement in Conway. Upon arrival, we found a single-story residence with a small fire contained in the basement. The fire was caused by an overloaded extension cord. It is essential to avoid using extension cords with high-power appliances such as space heaters, portable air conditioners, or in this instance, a dehumidifier. Fortunately, the homeowner returned home before the fire escalated and caused significant damage to the property.

A little insight on why we set the sirens off 25,30 mins before the storms.
First there was little if any media coverage of a tornado threat. Mostly because it only came into play a few hrs before the storms fired off. So with this thought process and with tornado warnings within a mile of Conway we watched a couple more radar sweeps and made the call that the same storm conditions were going to over run Conway we fired early. Judging by the amount of people who reached out to see if the sirens were a mistake we needed the extra warning time ! Doing our best to serve our community!
