Step behind the mask with us as we count down to Masquerade! We are thrilled to announce that acclaimed artist JoAna Rusche will be gracing our stage to perform iconic selections from The Phantom of the Opera.

Award-winning mezzo-soprano JoAna Rusche has appeared throughout the United States, Europe, and South America, bringing expressive artistry and stylistic versatility to a wide range of operatic, concert, and recital repertoire. A two-time District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she has also earned top prizes in the Heafner-Williams Vocal Competition and the Birmingham Opera Competition. She has appeared with opera companies and young artist programs including the Academy of Vocal Arts, Palm Beach Opera, Opera North, Opera New Jersey, and Teatro Nuovo.
Her operatic repertoire includes Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and Sheva Haddas in the world premiere of Enemies, A Love Story. As a concert soloist, she has sung major works including Mozart's Requiem, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Handel's Messiah, Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass. Equally at home on the recital stage, she is passionate about presenting both established masterworks and lesser-known repertoire.
She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance from the University of Michigan, a Master of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Central Arkansas, where her teaching integrates bel canto pedagogy, the Alexander Technique, and holistic approaches to vocal artistry.
