Back again with another pollinator favorite to add to your landscape!

Pollinator-Friendly Trees & Shrubs
(Episode 7)

BOTTLEBRUSH BUCKEYE
A native shrub that features long fluffy white flower clusters in Late June or early July. It is useful as an understory planting in woodland gardens, as a specimen plant, or in a shrub border. The coarse-textured, dark green compound leaves turn a rich, buttery yellow in the fall.

This is a large shrub that tends to sucker and, over time, will grow twice as broad as it is high, so it should only be used in large-scale plantings.

Bottlebrush buckeye
Aesculus parviflora
• Grows from 6 to 12 feet
• Mound-shaped with striking white flower spires and attractive gold fall foliage
• Growing conditions include partial shade and moist, well-drained soils
• Attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees
• Like other buckeye species, seeds and foliage are poisonous to humans

Bring your lunch and join us for a Lunch & Learn tomorrow, Thursday May 28th, with self-alignment guide and bioregional herbalist Ina Claggette for a conversation on aligning your personal energy with the natural rhythms of the season. As spring invites activation, initiation, and forward movement, many people feel the pressure to take action—yet still feel out of sync. Ina explores how true alignment begins with understanding your unique design and the way you are meant to move, decide, and grow. Blending Human Design with natural, plant-based practices, she shares how seasonal living and even everyday “weeds” can support your energy, helping you feel more grounded, clear, and aligned as you step into your next level of growth. Light snacks will be provided.
