🚧 PAVING NOTICE | Church Ave. & S. Walnut Ave. 🚧

Rogers Group will begin milling Church Avenue and South Walnut Avenue from Spring Street to Broad Street tonight, Tuesday, August 11, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday, August 12.

Paving crews are expected to move into the area on Wednesday, August 12, to pave the street following the milling operation.

Motorists should use caution in the work zone, expect delays and consider alternate routes when possible.

🚧 CLOSURE NOTICE – OLD WALTON RD. 🚧

The City of Cookeville Public Works Department will completely close a section of Old Walton Road on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, to repair a sinkhole caused by recent storms.

📍 Closure Location: Old Walton Rd. between Windwoods Dr. and Stonebridge Cir.

🚌 School buses will be permitted through the area until 7:30 a.m. After that time, the street will be completely closed to all traffic.

Motorists are encouraged to use surrounding streets for alternate access and travel. Please refer to the attached map for the affected area.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as our crews work to make necessary repairs following the recent storm damage. Please use caution when traveling near the work area.

As students return to school, please slow down and stay alert, especially around school buses and bus stops.

Passing a stopped school bus when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended is against the law. Drivers in both directions are required to stop, except when the roadway is divided by a physical median, such as a concrete barrier or grass divider.

Violating this law in Tennessee can lead to a fine and add 8 points to your driver's license.

🚧 South Jefferson Avenue Traffic Update 🚧

The permanent speed limit on South Jefferson Avenue has been established and is now 45 mph.

With all five lanes open and the updated speed limit now in effect, motorists are reminded to continue driving with caution and follow all posted traffic signs.

Please stay alert as you travel through the area, and thank you for your patience throughout the project.
