🔥 Employee Spotlight: Lieutenant Brandon Lee | Cookeville Fire Department

For nearly 17 years, Lieutenant Brandon Lee has served the community he’s always called home.

Born and raised in Cookeville, Brandon grew up with an example of public service close to home, his dad served as a police officer for the City of Cookeville. Brandon found his own path to serving the community while he was in college, when the Cookeville Fire Department offered a student program that helped pay for school while students worked calls with the department. He joined in 2009, and what started as a college opportunity turned into a career.

Today, Brandon is a Lieutenant and Advanced EMT. He’s responsible for overseeing his station, assisting with recruit classes, and helping prepare the next generation of firefighters. He also enjoys being involved with the department’s special operations, including technical rope rescues.

When he’s off duty, Brandon stays active by playing hockey, going to the gym and practicing jiu-jitsu. He also enjoys spending time at the lake and with his girlfriend and their three dogs. 🏒

If you receive an unexpected bill or invoice by email from someone claiming to represent the City of Cookeville, please call City Hall at 931-526-9591 to verify its legitimacy before sending any money.

Legitimate bills and invoices emailed by City of Cookeville employees will come from an official -tn.gov email address. The City will never request payment through a wire transfer.

Please use caution and verify any suspicious or unexpected payment requests before taking action.

UPDATE: CLOSURE NOTICE – OLD WALTON RD. 🚧

The City of Cookeville Public Works Department will completely close a section of Old Walton Road on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as crews continue repairs to a sinkhole caused by recent storms.

📍 Closure Location: Old Walton Rd. between Windwoods Dr. and Stonebridge Cir.

School buses will be permitted through the area until 7:30 a.m. After that time, the street will be completely closed to all traffic.

Motorists are encouraged to use surrounding streets for alternate access and travel. Please refer to the attached map for the affected area.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to complete these necessary repairs. Please use caution when traveling near the work area.

🚧 PAVING NOTICE | Church Ave. & S. Walnut Ave. 🚧

Rogers Group will begin milling Church Avenue and South Walnut Avenue from Spring Street to Broad Street tonight, Tuesday, August 11, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday, August 12.

Paving crews are expected to move into the area on Wednesday, August 12, to pave the street following the milling operation.

Motorists should use caution in the work zone, expect delays and consider alternate routes when possible.

The City of Cookeville is looking for a Park Groundskeeper to help keep our parks, athletic fields and recreational spaces looking their best!

This seasonal position runs through October and includes a variety of outdoor maintenance and improvement projects, such as mowing, weed-eating, mulching, landscaping, maintaining athletic fields, repairing and installing park and playground equipment, and assisting with special events.
