August is National Emergency Management Awareness Month

Frequently, we are asked to explain exactly what emergency management is and what we do. At Putnam County Emergency Management, we pride ourselves in being in the business of helping people. We help with planning, training, emergency response, education, community outreach, and many other things. This video from our colleagues at the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) briefly explains the roles that our team fills. We plan to use this entire month to give you better insight into who we are and what we do. Please be on the lookout for more educational and informative posts as National Emergency Management Awareness Month continues. We hope you will follow along!

If you have damage from this evening’s storms and flooding, we want to know!

Damage and flood reports help meteorologists and emergency managers understand the metrics that cause different impacts in storms.

The Putnam County Volunteer organization also has volunteers who are ready to help with debris removal for those who need help. The American Red Cross has local emergency assistance coordinators who can help anyone displaced by damage from the storms.
