Thanks to Andy, Tim, and Peter, we have a TV donated and professionally installed in our new community room at the Guest House! They sourced the monitor and came in on their weekend to get it set up. This will help support our education nights, allowing us to show videos or display presentations to families. It will also give us more options for other activities and events at the Guest House.

The Guest House is nearing completion, but we need YOUR help!

From cleaning to constructing furniture, sorting to sanitizing, we need volunteers to help the building be ready to welcome the first families arriving later this summer.

Why do families experience homelessness? There is a myriad of factors, and all of them point to systemic issues, not personal failings. One of the largest contributors to family homelessness is the lack of livable wage jobs. More than ever, wages simply do not keep pace with the expenses of food, housing, utilities, transportation, childcare, and medical care.

In fact, a new report from Dayforce and the Living Wage Institute found that just over half of full-time workers earn enough to provide for themselves and their families. That’s down five percentage points compared to four years ago.

We have the keys!✨🔑

The Family Promise in Anoka County Guest House construction is now complete and we have access to the building!

The Guest House features 8 apartment-style units providing temporary housing for families experiencing homelessness, offering not only shelter but also dignity and autonomy with private kitchens and bathrooms – things most shelters don’t provide. The finishing touches are in progress and the building will be ready for guests in early July.

The Guest House construction is nearly complete. With just a few more details on the inside and landscaping work on the outside, the project has really come together. The next big project to get the space ready to serve families will be to furnish the space with furniture.
